About the position

The University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) is seeking a Social Science Project Analyst to join the California Labor Lab (CALL). This position is designed for an individual who can effectively apply theoretical knowledge to practical situations, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of the professional field. The analyst will independently manage a wide range of responsibilities, utilizing their extensive job knowledge to analyze diverse problems and develop effective solutions. The primary focus of this role is to conduct research that enhances the understanding of how work impacts health and well-being, particularly in the context of emergent and alternative work arrangements. As part of CALL, which is a collaborative initiative involving the Philip R. Lee Institute for Health Policy Studies (PRL-IHPS) and the UC Berkeley Interdisciplinary Center for Health Workplaces (ICHW), the analyst will engage in research aimed at documenting the health impacts of both traditional and emerging working conditions. This research will involve conducting thorough literature reviews, summarizing findings, preparing manuscripts for publication, and managing the manuscript submission process. Additionally, the analyst will be responsible for organizing and facilitating meetings, documenting discussions, and participating in team meetings to ensure effective collaboration. The work environment will be primarily based at the UCSF Mission Bay campus and the UC Berkeley School of Public Health, with some flexibility for remote work. This is an 18-month contract position that offers a competitive salary range of $55,700 to $90,000, along with benefits including medical, dental, vision, and a 401(k) plan. The final salary will be determined based on experience and internal equity within the position classification at UCSF. Responsibilities
• Conduct in-depth literature reviews related to occupational health and workplace policies.

• Summarize literature reviews and research findings for internal and external stakeholders.

• Prepare manuscripts for publication and manage the manuscript submission process.

• Organize, facilitate, and document convenings and meetings.

• Participate in team meetings and contribute to collaborative research efforts.

• Analyze problems and issues of diverse scope and determine effective solutions.

Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in public health or a social science field or equivalent experience/training.

• Minimum of 1 year of experience conducting research.
,
• Thorough knowledge of qualitative research methods.
,
• Solid communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with faculty, staff, students, and research subjects.

• Ability to analyze information and synthesize large amounts of data with strong attention to detail.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
,
• Knowledge of and experience with bibliographic software.
,
• Subject matter expertise in occupational health or workplace policies.

Nice-to-haves
• Advanced degree (master's or doctorate) in public health or social science field.
