Job Overview:
Retrieving and stacking products according to the pick ticket or computer screen to meet customer orders is the key function of the Shipping and Receiving Technician. They must traverse the warehouse's pick area and create stable pallets of goods while meeting safety, accuracy, and efficiency benchmarks.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Ā Use the pick ticket instructions to carefully load product quantities onto designated pallets, ensuring the stability and safety of the products.
Ā Use a Pallet Jack, a form of Powered Industrial Truck, to relocate pallets of stacked merchandise to different warehouse areas.
Ā Supporting in the upkeep and cleanliness of the warehouse by undertaking housekeeping work as required.
Ā To ensure PIT operational readiness, inspect all aspects of the machinery at the beginning of each shift and record any observations or concerns on the PIT checklist.
Ā Correct any mistakes identified by the checker regarding product and quantity.
Ā Perform different duties to facilitate the smooth running of the warehouse operations.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Ā The skill of working competently in a fast-paced environment, traveling on foot, and frequently hoisting items that weigh 30 pounds.
Ā Proficiency in hoisting up to 75 lbs.
Ā When teams collaborate effectively, they can improve their problem-solving abilities and make better decisions.
Ā Optimize inventory management through effective warehousing processes and procedures.
Ā Stay organized and focused as you move from one task to another, avoiding distractions that may hinder your ability to meet expectations.
Ā Use previous knowledge and experience to help interpret any technical or specialized terminology.
Ā Being perceptive and able to differentiate between packages is a key ability.
Ā Operate in a locale that is raucous and unregulated in terms of climate, with sweltering summers and frigid winters.
Ā An individual who is self-motivated and takes the initiative to be productive, I am also flexible in my availability and work hours.
Minimum Qualifications:
Ā Up to 12 months of vocational experience equips an individual with pertinent skills.
Ā A certified operator of a Pallet Jack is trained to operate the machinery safely and efficiently.
Preferred Qualifications:
Ā If you didn't graduate from high school, earning a GED can be a good alternative option.
Ā Knowledge gained through hands-on practice in a year-long job.
Ā Pallet Jack operators who fail to obtain a PIT Certification may be putting themselves and others at risk of accidents or injuries.
