SHIFT MANAGER - PRODUCTION (3RD SHIFT) - CARROLLTON, TX. OVERVIEW: The Shift Manager - Production plays a key role in overseeing a designated unit within the production department of the facility. Reporting directly to the Production Manager, this position is responsible for managing and coordinating the daily operations of the unit, ensuring production targets are met, and maintaining quality, safety, and efficiency standards. The Shift Manager - Production supervises and supports a team of production supervisors, providing leadership, guidance, and direction to achieve departmental objectives. WHAT YOU'LL DO: Lead and manage the operations of the assigned unit within the production department, ensuring adherence to production schedules, quality standards, and safety regulations. Supervise and support a team of production supervisors, providing leadership, coaching, training, and performance management to foster a high-performing and cohesive team environment. Plan and coordinate production activities, including staffing, resource allocation, equipment utilization, and workflow optimization, to meet production targets and customer demand. Monitor production processes and quality control measures to identify opportunities for improvement, address issues, and ensure consistent product quality and compliance with specifications. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as maintenance, engineering, quality assurance, and logistics, to address production-related issues, optimize processes, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. Implement and enforce safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment for all staff, including regular safety inspections, training, and enforcement of safety policies. Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and best practices for production operations, ensuring consistency and compliance with regulatory requirements. Analyze production data, performance metrics, and KPIs to track unit performance, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions to improve efficiency, productivity, and cost-effectiveness. Manage and control production expenses within budgetary constraints, identify cost-saving opportunities, and implement measures to optimize resource utilization and reduce waste. Serve as a liaison between production supervisors, management, and other departments, communicating goals, priorities, and expectations, and facilitating collaboration and alignment to achieve departmental objectives. WHAT YOU'LL NEED: Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field; Proven experience in production management or related field, with at least 4 years of experience in a food manufacturing environment. Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire, motivate, and develop teams to achieve operational excellence. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels of the organization, as well as external stakeholders. Solid understanding of food manufacturing processes, quality management systems, and regulatory requirements (e.g., FDA, USDA). Proficiency in production planning and scheduling, budgeting, and cost control techniques. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement. Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma methodology, and other process improvement methodologies. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities, and adapt to changing business needs. WHAT WE'D LIKE TO SEE: Master's degree preferred.
