Senior Virtual Reality VR Unity Developer / Engineer Volunteer - Science Fiction

Remote Full-time
The Museum of Science Fiction is currently designing a digital twin of an eventual physical facility and is looking for volunteers to help build it and establish an immediate VR presence for the Museum. As a nonprofit 501c(3) organization, we have assembled a large all-volunteer team and have successfully crowd-sourced our programs, activities, and events since 2013. The Museum of Science Fiction believes that science fiction is rich with ideas that can serve as a springboard for curiosity and seeks to make a measurable positive impact on STEAM-related educational activities. Based on the belief that science fiction holds educational value for all ages, the Museum is creating a VR experience that will educate and spark interest in STEAM through science fiction. The VR Museum, in its final form, will consist of a major entrance hall, seven themed galleries, and outside spaces. The seven galleries include: Creators, Time Travel, Lifeforms, Computers and Robots, Vehicles, Technology, and Other Worlds. Looking to the future of Web3 and the next phase of the internet, we feel that the metaverse is rapidly coming of age for mass adoption. If you are a VR developer or 3D model designer and would like to lend a hand for just a few hours a week, we would love to hear from you! Responsibilities / Qualifications • 10 years Unity / C# experience with projects, portfolio, and Github examples • Strong 3D skills with a deep knowledge of computer graphics (lighting, texturing shading, rigging, FX, etc.) • Familiar with agile software development philosophy and practices • Experience developing, performance profiling, and optimizing in Unity • Experience working with a software development team lead and a project team of designers, project managers and quality analysts • Experience working with the creative team to realize a design concept into implementation • Experience testing innovative new technologies to gain visitor experience insights to help plan a future physical museum Additional Information Apply tot his job
