Senior Underwriter Financial Institutions
Nexus Specialty Inc., a division of The Nexus Group, is looking for a Senior Underwriter Financial Institutions, to join our US Financial Lines team. We are a fast paced, energetic and rapidly growing MGA that offers a great opportunity for a driven, experienced market-facing underwriter interested in helping continue to build our wholesale Financial Institutions business. This role is a Hybrid position located in one of the following locations: New York, NY, Morristown NJ or Chicago, IL.
The Senior Underwriter will play a key role working with the CUO of Financial Lines and also the VP of Management Liability to help grow a profitable book of wholesale-only, middle market Management and Professional Liability business for Financial Services firms (focusing on Asset Management Firms and Investment Advisors). They will take an active part in the development and implementation of an underwriting strategy that identifies profitable market opportunities and key wholesale broker relationships.
Principal Duties/Responsibilities
Underwrite a portfolio of primary and excess financial institution risks with a primary focus on new business.
Adhere to company guidelines and underwriting authority, evaluate new business accounts to determine risk acceptability, contractual terms and pricing.
Partner with CUO/VP to review and manage overall book performance and production results.
Generate new business opportunities by leveraging wholesale broker contacts.
Manage wholesale broker relationships in assigned territory.
Represent Nexus at networking functions and other cyber industry-related events.
Remain current on legal and regulatory changes and claim development in order to contribute to portfolio profitability.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree
3+ years of management and professional liability underwriting experience with a focus on financial institution risks.
Excellent financial lines underwriting technical ability, including financial analysis skills.
Demonstrates significant contribution to underwriting profit.
Independent decision maker takes full responsibility for making decisions and consequences associated with decisions.
Knowledge of the Financial Institutions external market.
Established network of wholesale broker relationships.
Continually seeks opportunities for portfolio growth and potential broker opportunities.
Salary Range:
The salary range for this position is $115,000 - $155,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
