Senior UI/UX Designer (Canada Remote)

Riipen is looking for a Senior UX/UI Designer to join our Product team.We’re seeking an experienced product designer who is passionate about creating intuitive, high-impact user experiences. The ideal candidate brings strong design execution skills combined with strategic thinking and the ability to elevate design quality across the team.As a Senior UX/UI Designer, you will play a key role in shaping the Riipen platform experience across all sides of our marketplace. You will translate product requirements into thoughtful, scalable design solutions while simplifying workflows and improving usability for our users.This role is both hands-on and influential - you will contribute directly to product design while also helping guide the quality and consistency of design work across the team. You will partner closely with Product Managers, developers, and other designers to ensure that Riipen delivers cohesive, user-centred experiences.Ultimately, you will design both functional and engaging product features that address user needs, simplify complex workflows, and help grow Riipen’s global user base.This role is currently an individual contributor position with design leadership responsibilities and has the potential to evolve into a formal design leadership role as the team grows.
Key Responsibilities
Product Design & ExecutionTranslate product requirements into clear, intuitive design solutions that enhance usability and user engagementDrive the design of both functional and visually compelling product features that support growth across all sides of the Riipen platformDevelop wireframes, user flows, prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups that clearly communicate design conceptsCreate scalable UI components and maintain design consistency across the platformIdentify opportunities to improve existing workflows and iterate on new design solutionsUser Research & UX StrategyGather and evaluate user requirements in collaboration with Product Managers, developers, and internal stakeholdersConduct user research and usability testing to validate design decisionsResearch customers, competitors, and market trends to identify UX improvementsCollaboration & Agile DeliveryWork closely with Product Managers, developers, and other stakeholders in an Agile software development environmentPresent design concepts, prototypes, and solutions to internal teams and stakeholdersCommunicate design decisions, trade-offs, and constraints effectivelyCollaborate with product and engineering teams to ensure design feasibility and product qualityDesign Leadership & QualityHelp define and evolve the visual style and user experience across Riipen’s platformMaintain and evolve the design system and component libraryReview and provide feedback on the work of other designersTake ownership of the overall quality and consistency of design outputs across the teamSign off on component updates and ensure design standards are upheld
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
You may be a good fit if you have:5–8+ years of experience designing UX/UI for web and mobile applicationsA strong portfolio demonstrating user-centred design, product thinking, and high-quality design executionExpertise with modern design tools such as Figma, Sketch, or similar platformsStrong understanding of design systems and scalable component librariesExperience conducting user research and usability testingAbility to translate complex product requirements into intuitive user experiencesExperience working within Agile product development environmentsStrong collaboration skills and ability to work cross-functionally with product managers and engineersExcellent communication skills with the ability to present ideas and influence stakeholdersAbility to manage multiple priorities and projects in a fast-paced environmentBonus points if you have:Experience designing for marketplace or multi-sided platformsExperience building or improving a native mobile applicationFamiliarity with HTML, CSS, or front-end implementation constraintsExperience helping define or evolve a design system at scaleDegree in UX/UI Design, Graphic Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field
