Senior Supply Chain BI Analyst – SQL Query Optimization

Senior BI Analyst – Supply Chain Analytics 3-Month Contract with Long-Term Extensions Remote (first week onsite in Atlanta, GA) We are seeking a Sr Supply Chain BI Analyst with expertise optimizing pre-existing production SQL queries and Tableau dashboards that support critical supply chain reporting. Primary focus of this role is SQL and Tableau performance optimization – including reducing report runtimes, lowering Snowflake compute costs, and improving dashboard efficiency and usability. This role supports BI strategy, SAP Warehouse Management migration, and nationwide distribution center consolidation initiatives. Key Responsibilities • Optimize large, complex pre-existing production SQL queries in Snowflake and SAP-supported environments to improve report performance and reduce compute costs. • Diagnose and improve SQL performance using join strategies, query structure improvements, clustering/indexing considerations, and targeted performance tuning. • Optimize existing Tableau dashboards for speed, scalability, and efficient data access using performance diagnostics (e.g. Performance Recorder) – not rebuilding dashboards from scratch. • Partner with BI analysts to review existing reports, identify inefficiencies, and implement performance improvements. • Enhance and optimize existing supply chain reporting (inventory, forecasting, throughput, cost, performance). • Measure, track, and communicate performance gains, including before-and-after runtimes and Snowflake compute cost savings. • Translate business requirements into optimized, reliable reporting solutions by improving the efficiency of existing reports. • Validate data accuracy while ensuring consistent performance across reporting outputs. • Conduct SQL and dashboard code reviews to maintain quality, performance, and consistency across BI deliverables. Qualifications • 4+ years of BI or analytics experience, with a primary focus on optimizing pre-existing production SQL queries and Tableau dashboards rather than building new ones. • Expert‑level SQL optimization experience, including refactoring existing SQL and diagnosing performance issues related to joins, clustering, indexing, and overall performance tuning. • Advanced Tableau dashboard optimization experience, including improving the performance and scalability of existing dashboards (not just dashboard creation). • Hands-on experience working with supply chain data, especially inventory and procurement. • Experience supporting ERP, WMS, or supply chain system migrations (SAP preferred). • Snowflake SQL experience preferred but not required.
