Senior Sound Designer (Contract/Fixed Term), Remote Job

Remote Full-time
Bonfire Studios is seeking a creative and experienced Senior Sound Designer to join our team on a contract basis (up to 12 months). In this fixed-term role, you’ll help shape the emotional and aesthetic impact of our games through sound. Working closely with cross-disciplinary teams, you’ll craft memorable audio moments, define compelling sonic identities, and bring characters, environments, and gameplay to life.

Whether your strengths lie in storytelling, sound design, or audio systems, this role offers the flexibility to focus on the areas you’re most passionate about while enhancing the player experience in meaningful ways.
In this role you will:
• Design and implement high-quality audio assets for characters, environments, combat, abilities, UI, and systems.
• Maintain a cohesive audio identity that supports our live multiplayer experience.
• Collaborate closely with game designers, engineers, artists, and narrative teams to ensure audio supports gameplay clarity, player feedback, and emotional impact.
• Implement and iterate on audio content using Wwise and in-engine tools to create dynamic, real-time responses to gameplay.
• Help shape dynamic mix systems and content scalability to support frequent updates and seasonal content.
• Participate in playtests and live content reviews to gather feedback and continuously improve the player experience.
• Contribute to team-wide efforts to build an audio culture focused on craft, innovation, and sustainability.

We're excited about you because:
• You have 4+ years of experience as a sound designer in games, preferably with live service or multiplayer titles.
• You have a strong portfolio demonstrating your ability to craft emotional, immersive, and high-quality audio experiences.
• You are comfortable implementing your work directly using Wwise and game engines like Unity.
• You understand the unique demands of multiplayer games, including audio legibility, mix clarity, and gameplay readability.
• You thrive in a collaborative environment and enjoy working across disciplines.
• You hold a strong passion for games and the creative process.
• You embrace a growth mindset and are eager to learn and contribute.
• You’re comfortable navigating live service environments and iterating on content over time.

Why you'll love working at Bonfire Studios:
• Have strong values that include transparency, ownership, and trust. We are a people-first studio that also strives for a high bar of excellence in our creations.
• Celebrate craft expertise because we are a small, tight-knit group of highly experienced game developers who are as passionate about our team as we are our game.
• Offer opportunities to learn and contribute beyond your focused discipline in areas of interest or passion.
• Practice candor and feedback, leveling ourselves and each other up in the process.
• Play games and have fun together, kindling our own love for games and learning about each other.

This contract would be up to 12 months, and the base salary range for this position is $150,000-$160,000/annually. The range doesn't tell the whole story - we are always open to candidates at different stages in their careers and consider candidates' potential impact holistically, not just their years of experience or skill level. In addition to a base salary, this role will be eligible for full health benefits including medical, dental, vision and more (plus paid time off).
