Optum's Public Cloud engineering team is responsible for developing software, managing security and financial controls, and creating reusable application patterns that enable the enterprise to operate efficiently within the public cloud space. The ideal candidate for this position should possess exceptional software engineering abilities, with a demonstrated history of efficiently managing and utilizing public cloud resources. They should also possess agile development leadership qualities. As a lead engineer, you will leverage these skills to design and engineer new services and software that prioritize scalability, interoperability, and code maintainability. Primary Responsibilities: Working with the Deployment Lead, peer developers to complete various project deployment activities Build code for the requirement specifications and write and execute the tests for the impacted components Participate in code reviews and Adherence to coding standards Adhere to proper use of source control Ensure delivery of technical artifacts for the project Identify opportunities to identify repetitive work and automate the same Participate in analysis of the current system/application to help finalize the requirements Work independently in an Agile environment on the Stories or tasks assigned and support the Engineering lead with new designs and documentation Communicate effectively with in the team and cross functional teams Comply with the terms and conditions of the employment contract, company policies and procedures, and any and all directives (such as, but not limited to, transfer and/or re-assignment to different work locations, change in teams and/or work shifts, policies in regards to flexibility of work benefits and/or work environment, alternative work arrangements, and other decisions that may arise due to the changing business environment). The Company may adopt, vary or rescind these policies and directives in its absolute discretion and without any limitation (implied or otherwise) on its ability to do so Required Qualifications: Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience 5+ years of experience in Public Cloud - Azure Experience in building CI/CD pipelines - Github/GitLab; Jenkins, etc. AI Experience: Completed AI related training (e.g., fundamental concepts, prompting, etc.) Demonstrable experience leveraging AI enabled tooling to improve productivity Foundational AI literacy (understanding of basic AI ecosystem concepts) Demonstrated commitment to personal AI skill development Good experience in DevOPS related work Understanding of Cloud fundamentals and Subscriptions/Resources management in a PaaS Understanding of Cloud fundamentals in IaaS & PaaS Understanding of application architecture and underlying components Proficient in Iaas - Terraform Proficient in Python Proven ability to bring in continuous deployment practices to enhance our Agile posture Proven ability to participate in the design and implementation of new system layers utilizing a first principles understanding of high complexity compute environments Proven good communication skills and should be a quick learner Preferred Qualifications: Experience with containers and orchestration platforms, such as Kubernetes Understanding of AWS Exposure to support/Operation role Proven excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills Proven evidence-based approach to decision-making and problem-solving At UnitedHealth Group, our mission is to help people live healthier lives and make the health system work better for everyone.
