Our Trust team is dedicated to using identity verification as a powerful tool to build trust among our users. As a Senior Software Engineer on this team, you'll collaborate with design, product, privacy/legal, operations, and other engineering teams to verify users' identities and build trust on the platform.
Key Challenges and Opportunities:

Identity Verification Expansion: Develop the next generation of identity verification methods, incorporating new technologies such as AI and machine learning to enhance trust and safety on the platform.
Business Verification: Create capabilities to represent and verify businesses as first-class citizens on our platform, empowering new user segments and enhancing security for guests.
Identity Misuse: Enhance our existing systems by identifying and incorporating new user signals to ensure the integrity of all identity verification, reducing fraud and preventing safety incidents.
Vendor Optimization: Streamline and optimize our vendor collaborations, reducing costs and reliance on external vendors while improving effectiveness, and explore innovative technologies such as ML, Computer Vision, and AI to shape the future of our Identity pipeline.

Your Responsibilities:

Work on systems at scale with large data sets, building and continuously improving applications for Airbnb product, business, and operational use cases.
Collaborate with cross-functional partners, including software engineers, product managers, operations, and data scientists, to identify opportunities for business impact and drive engineering decisions.
Hands-on prototype, develop, productionize, and test solutions and defenses to existing and emerging fraud trends.
Mentor junior developers and drive alignment, manage projects, and effectively collaborate with stakeholders.

Your Expertise:

6+ years of industry experience in software engineering, with a focus on building and scaling high-quality and high-traffic products or systems.
Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
Experience in fraud prevention or identity systems, with a strong understanding of technical approaches and design product solutions to solve real-world problems.
Ability to evaluate technical approaches, drive alignment, manage projects, and effectively collaborate with stakeholders.
