Senior Software Engineer (React / Node.js)

We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer (React / Node.js) to join Rumor’s North America division and work full-time with our client in the air cargo industry. In this role, you’ll help design, build, and scale a modern logistics platform, working across the full stack with a strong focus on integrations and complex systems. You’ll collaborate closely with the Engineering Manager and external partners, owning features end to end—from implementation through production. This is a full-time (40 hours/week) remote role for candidates based in Canada, with the team operating in the EST timezone and flexible hours as long as overlap is maintained. The position can be salaried or contract-based, with a minimum one-year term. Our Technology Stack Frontend: Next.js, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS Backend: Node.js (Express) Database & Caching: PostgreSQL, Redis Infrastructure & Monitoring: AWS (or similar), Datadog Payments: Stripe Responsibilities • Build and maintain full-stack features using Next.js, TypeScript, and Node.js • Lead complex integrations with freight forwarders, airlines, and external partners • Design and optimize REST and tRPC APIs, databases, and caching (PostgreSQL, Redis) • Collaborate with product, design, and stakeholders to deliver features from concept to launch • Participate in agile rituals including standups, sprint planning, and retrospectives • Contribute to system architecture, engineering standards, and best practices • Write tests and documentation, and support knowledge sharing and mentoring Requirements • 5+ years of professional experience building web applications • Strong full-stack experience with TypeScript, React/Next.js, Node.js, and PostgreSQL • Proven experience in logistics tech • Experience designing and maintaining REST and/or tRPC APIs • Hands-on experience with Redis, Stripe (or similar), and cloud platforms (AWS or equivalent) • Strong debugging, problem-solving, and system-thinking skills • Experience delivering complex platforms end to end in startup or fast-paced environments • Comfortable working remotely with EST–PST timezone overlap Benefits • You’ll work on diverse, challenging projects with innovative startups and high-growth companies, collaborating closely with a creative, high-performing team. • We also support long-term growth through a professional development budget and provide access to premium tools and resources to help you do your best work.
