Job DescriptionThe Senior Software Engineer I is responsible for helping to create and maintain our main product, Ignition, as well as other software that is used by internal and external customers of Inductive Automation, LLC. They participate in all phases of product development, including design, specification, implementation, testing, building, deployment, documentation, support, and maintenance. This role may be required to interact with customers to troubleshoot products or obtain requirements. This is a full-time position with remote, hybrid and on-site opportunities available. Responsibilities Holds independent responsibility for the entire lifecycle of projects or features including engineering design, development, and deploymentImproves code structure and architecture in service of testability and maintainabilityWrites, co-writes, and reviews design documentationMaintains a high level of proficiency in one or more technical areasPrioritizes and values unowned or undesirable work to accelerate team progressConsistently delivers high-quality work that meets established standardsCollaborates with their team and adjacent teams to solve problemsIdentifies and escalates problems that have wider scopeAssists and teaches other engineers on an individual basisCompletes thoughtful and constructive code reviews in a timely mannerMeets and maintains 6 month performance milestones provided by their managerTakes responsibility for one or more product areas or other IC leadership role Requirements 4-6+ years of software engineering or software development experience, preferably in a related fieldA comprehensive understanding of Computer Science concepts and ability to apply expertise in object-oriented design, multi-threaded architecture, data structures, algorithms, and cybersecurityHands-on programming experience using relevant languages (JavaScript and/or Typescript) and relevant frameworks such as ReactExperience using relevant tool suites. (IntelliJ or equivalent, Git, Webpack)Creative problem-solving skillsPassionate about building applications that delight usersStrong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skillsExperience working on a team using agile methodologiesPreferred, not required:Experience in a leadership or team lead role is strongly preferred PayBased on the Sacramento region, the new hires minimum and maximum target salary for this role is $140k - $160k.Inductive Automation’s ranges are market-driven and set to allow for flexibility. Although it is not typical for an individual to start at the top end of the range for the position, compensation decisions are dependent on: the facts and circumstances of each case, work location, job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training; and other business and organizational needs.
