This includes identifying member goals, developing a deep understanding of each user, building our generative AI-driven features, and offering personalized daily recommendations to improve health and performance. Our work is deeply data-driven—we continuously measure the impact of our features and iterate quickly based on performance insights.About the RoleAs a Senior Software Engineer on the Coaching Team, you will help architect and implement large language model (LLM)-powered coaching features that integrate seamlessly across the entire WHOOP ecosystem. You’ll be instrumental in shaping a cohesive, intelligent coaching experience for our members. Success in this role will require strong backend engineering expertise, particularly in API design and system integration. RESPONSIBILITIES: Help execute WHOOP's vision to build/scale a unified interactive coaching platform that allows members to progress towards their health goalsContribute to backend development: Java, AWS and PostgresWork collaboratively with a product and technical visionBuild software that will solve the needs of multiple cross-functional teamsConsistently deliver features and PRs with an iterative approachDevelop necessary observability and evaluations for stability of our AI systemsGroom and mentor other developers while establishing best practices in our web stackWork with Product and Marketing teams to gather technical requirementsContribute to internal tooling development to support our AI Coach QUALIFICATIONS: 4+ years of professional experience working on large scale software systemsExperience in API design and development (Java preferred)Experience in relational database design and development (SQL)Experience productionalizing products built on top of LLMsStrong skills translating design specifications into fully functional applicationsPositive attitude and ownership mentalityStrong communication skills to work both collaboratively and independently Additional Information Learn more about our Software Org and how to be successful in yourengineeringcareer at WHOOP via ourCareer Framework.
