With decades of experience creating and deploying real world systems for demanding environments, the Stack team is dedicated to developing an autonomous solution ecosystem tailored to the trucking industry's unique demands.About the Role:The Mapping team is responsible for the infrastructure and pipelines that generate and serve the most critical prior required by autonomous vehicle operations: the HD Map. We leverage vector priors, onboard detection, and offboard data extraction aggregated across petabytes of AV log data to ensure our autonomy stack operates optimally. We manage the end-to-end systems that track map quality, issues, and fixes.If you are excited about GIS/geospatial data or love geometry; if you have experience with odometry or SLAM; or if designing highly scalable databases and services to ingest and serve large amounts of data to a fleet of vehicles sounds exciting to you - we'd love to have you join! As a Software Engineer on Mapping, you will have the opportunity to create and own algorithms and processes that automatically generate our Map as well as architect service infrastructure to build, store, and serve the Map.Responsibilities:Design and implement algorithms that can take driving data and generate/update the MapExplore new ways of building: e.g. incorporate VLMs to automatically detect complex situationsCollaborate cross-functionally with Localization and Perception to drive product requirements for mappingEngage in requirements gathering across the company and with external partners to ensure Mapping's service ecosystem solves real problemsDesign and own some of Mapping's service framework - from data pipelines to map serving and displaySet a culture of engineering excellence, working closely with management and customers to balance speed of delivery and quality of engineering artifactsQualifications: Education: Degree in Computer Science or related fieldExperience: 5+ years of professional software development experienceExpert level development skills in python or C++ (we work mostly in Python, and are happy to teach)Experience in SLAM, Mapping, or GISStrong communication and collaboration skillsWe are proud to be an equal opportunity workplace.
