About Delta Airlines and the Role

Delta IT is at the forefront of technological innovation, driving transformation from top to bottom. As a Senior Software Development Engineer, you'll play a critical role in designing, developing, and deploying modernized technical business applications. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams, including technical teams, business teams, and product managers, to ensure that the code you develop meets their vision and aligns with our company's goals.

Key Responsibilities


Design, prototype, and demonstrate new capabilities and features of front-end and back-end applications to ensure compliance with standards
Assist with the design, implementation, and optimization of related processes, tools, and workflows
Collaborate with technical teams, business teams, and product managers to ensure that the code developed meets their vision
Design solutions to meet functional and technical requirements
Align with Security/Compliance frameworks and controls requirements
Own quality posture, writing automated tests, preferably before writing code
Develop delivery pipelines and automated deployment scripts
Configure services, including databases and monitoring
Implement Service Reliability Engineering
Fix issues from the development phase through the production phase, requiring being on-call for production support


What You Need to Succeed (Minimum Qualifications)

To be considered for this role, you'll need:


A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline
3 or more years of hands-on experience as a Senior Software Engineer or related technical engineering capacity
Strong programming skills in Java/J2EE, Spring Boot, and JSON
Good knowledge of REST-based microservices architecture, APIs
Professional experience working with Agile Methodologies
Experience working with DevOps concepts, practices, and tools in an enterprise technology environment
Experience engineering software applications within an Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud infrastructure or other prominent enterprise cloud provider
Working understanding of the entire Software Development cycle, building CI/CD pipelines, and practicing Test Development
Hands-on troubleshooting and deployment experience
Fundamental awareness of Application Security concepts and 12-factor application development principles
Experience with source control, build tools, and GIT (GitHub, Bitbucket, or other)

Experience working in an airline technology environment
Experience with Business Rules Engine
Knowledge of JavaScript Frameworks, such as AngularJS v4+/React or other JS Frameworks, Node/Express JS
