As a Senior Safety Professional on a project hire basis, you'll play a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our guests and cast members by integrating prevention through design principles into our new projects. About the Role & Team The Design Safety position is a key technical safety resource for new Disneyland Resort projects, focusing on guest and cast safety, regulatory compliance, and safety assurance strategies. As a Senior Safety Professional, you'll work closely with various teams, including Facilities Asset Management, Architecture & Facilities Engineering, Walt Disney Imagineering, and Operations, to identify and mitigate risks throughout the design cycle. This is a project hire role with an estimated end date of 9/27/2025, and you'll report to the Manager, Safety. Key Responsibilities Lead Design Safety Efforts: Partner with internal clients and external contractors to lead design safety efforts from the feasibility phase through project completion. Safety Design Assist: Consult on design elements to provide risk mitigation methodologies. Propose innovative safety solutions that meet creative intent while ensuring risk mitigation and regulatory compliance. Articulate safety requirements using applicable standards, regulations, and risk analysis techniques. Partner with various teams to identify risk mitigations and expectations for individual use-cases. Safety Design Assurance: Assist in ensuring safety mitigations planned during design are accurate and effective through construction and acceptance. Provide Safety Assurance services through inspections, field reviews, and acceptance tests. Consult on design changes, field-directed changes, and scope changes. Liaise with park/land/venue teams to prepare for operation and maintenance execution. Regulatory Compliance: Identify applicable Disney, Federal, State, and local regulations and standards for design elements. Collaboration: Ensure consistency and alignment with other design safety individuals on hazard mitigations, risk analysis, and standards interpretation. Essential Qualifications & Skills To be successful in this role, you'll need: 5+ years of industrial safety and health experience, safety engineering, or a related field. Proven experience in project design review processes, including "Safety by Design" concepts. Strong background in reviewing and analyzing design drawings/packages and hazard analyses. Knowledge of relevant regulatory and industry standards, as well as internal company standards and practices. Self-driven and resourceful with the ability to solve problems outside your area of expertise. Flexibility and ability to operate in an ambiguous and changing environment. Conflict resolution and ability to diffuse difficult situations. Bachelor's Degree. Preferred Qualifications Having the following qualifications can give you a competitive edge: Associate Safety Professional (ASP) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) designation or Professional Engineer (PE). Certified Playground Safety Inspector (CPSI). Design safety experience. Experience in safety of multi-trade construction activities and construction safety industry/regulatory standards. Strong background in FOS and Operations tasks and utilization of common theme park facilities. 4-year degree in Occupational Safety, Safety Engineering, Construction Safety, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field. Advanced degree in Occupational Safety, Safety Engineering, Construction Safety, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
