Senior Research and Policy Associate, Government Relations

About the position Avoq's Government Relations team is seeking an intelligent, proactive, and motivated professional to assist its' team of Federal lobbyists in performing research and writing projects on behalf of Fortune 100 clients, major trade associations, and leading public interest groups. The Senior Research Associate will be supervised by the Research Manager and the Director, Government Relations. This role is ideal for anyone who has demonstrated research and analytical experience in a political setting (campaign, Capitol Hill, political committee) and is eager to become part of an integrated team that works hard every day to spur action. The ideal candidate will work onsite 4 days a week while Congress is in session. Responsibilities • Developing and maintaining a general knowledge of Avoq clients and the issues that impact them. • Completing legislative, public policy, and other research projects as directed. • Assisting the Research Manager with compliance matters and fundraising activities. • Coordinating the drafting and production of client publications such as issue alerts and newsletters. • Attending hearings as needed and drafting summaries for clients and/or staff. • Reviewing and editing client memos and proposals. • Assisting with other administrative matters and client events. Requirements • 3+ years experience on the Hill or in a government affairs setting • A strong interest in politics and public policy • Excellent research and writing skills • Experience with research tools such as Bloomberg, Politico Pro and Quorum • The ability to work independently and juggle multiple projects • Exceptional attention to detail.
