Director of Product Management- Switchgear

Purpose...

Supervises all product management functions; Leads a team of technical product managers and Subject Matter Experts owning specific product groups. Maintain up-to-date Product Lifecycle Management systems. This team provides critical technical support for all stakeholders internal and external (manufacturing, engineering, sales, customers)

Director Functions:

Build teams to effectively manage the Product Lifecycle for portfolio of made-to-order products.

Establishes a performance culture through mentorship, coaching, and training initiatives.

Oversees talent acquisition in a highly growth-oriented environment

Works with various sales, engineering, and operations stakeholders to improve product portfolio

Effectively manages project timelines and champions strategic continuous-improvement initiatives to improve our organization’s product offering.

Technical Product Management Team Essential Functions:

Serves as the primary Point-of-Contact (POC) and SME for a product platform

Assigns a product owner to each major product category in the portfolio that can provide technical product support to answer all product-related questions.

Defines valid manufacturing configurations.

Authors and maintains Product Literature.

Establishes quality control acceptance criteria for manufactured parts (internal and external)

Supports Business Development Managers with efforts to get solutions specified into new markets and applications and write/approve guide specifications for products.

Supports Quotations/Estimations to create and maintain Pricing and configuration tools.

Supports Procurement to establish supply chains for primary and secondary material choices for major components.

Supports the Design Engineering and CAD teams by reviewing AutoCAD and SolidWorks libraries for accuracy and completeness and when necessary, provide feedback and direction on how to improve design engineering tools.

Generates list of greatest risks associated with products and works with other departments to determine solutions

Leads Continuous Improvement efforts related to specific product groups

Performs design and manufacturing audits once per quarter to gather feedback on potential issues or improvements

Provide technical training on products and applications.

Requirements:

A BSEE or equivalent. This must include a solid grasp of three-phase electric power concepts including distribution systems, control and protection strategies and rotating machines.

Minimum 6 years of experience working in a technical role with focus on switchgear and related products.

Minimum of 3 years in experience leading a team of engineers.

Must be a strong leader with proven track record of team building

Familiarity with the National Electric Code and UL / IEEE standards for various types of electrical equipment (UL 891, 1558, 508A; IEEE C37.20, etc.)

Must be a team player with strong verbal/written communication skills and

self-motivated with an ability to work independently without supervision.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical assembly and electrical schematic drawings
