Senior Quality Assurance Automation Engineer

Sharper Marina Management is a growing B2B SaaS company providing comprehensive marina management software to marina clients nationwide. Our platform handles everything from reservations and billing to financial reporting, point-of-sale and customer management. We're a small but mighty team committed to delivering exceptional software that helps marinas run more efficiently.
OVERVIEW
As our first dedicated and primary QA hire, you'll have the unique opportunity to build our quality assurance function from the ground floor. This is a hands-on role focused on creating and maintaining automated test coverage that ensures our customers receive reliable, high-quality software with every release. You'll work closely with our development and customer teams to streamline QA processes, increase development throughput, and establish testing standards that will scale with our growth.
We're looking for someone who believes that with today's tools and AI capabilities, manual testing should be the exception, not the rule. Your mission: build comprehensive automated test coverage for our application that catches issues before they reach customers.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Test Automation
• Design, build, and maintain automated test suites for API and UI testing
• Develop and execute automated regression tests to ensure existing functionality remains intact
• Design, build, and maintain automated test suites for API and UI testing
• Develop and execute automated regression tests to ensure existing functionality remains intact
• Leverage modern testing tools and AI-assisted testing capabilities to maximize automation coverage
• Monitor test results and maintain test health across the automation suite
• Continuously expand test coverage to reduce reliance on manual testing
QA Process & Standards
• Define and own QA processes, standards, and best practices for the organization
• Establish quality gates and testing requirements for each release cycle
• Create and maintain testing documentation, including test plans and strategies
• Implement quality metrics and reporting to track testing effectiveness
Collaboration & Coordination
• Support internal developers by integrating testing into the development workflow
• Participate in sprint planning to understand requirements and design test strategies
• Coordinate with external development partners to ensure QA standards are met
• Review and clarify bug reports, occasionally interfacing with customers when needed
• Work within our release cycle to ensure quality delivery
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• 5-7+ years of experience in QA automation and software testing for SaaS solutions
• Experience with financial/accounting software and systems with complex financial reporting
• Proven track record inbuilding and maintaining automated test frameworks from scratch
• Strong experience with API testing tools and frameworks (e.g., Postman, REST Assured, or similar)
• Strong experience with UI automation tools (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, or similar)
• Proficiency with modern testing tools and AI-assisted testing to maximize automation efficiency
• Experience with web application testing and understanding of web technologies
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and integrating automated tests into deployment workflows
• Experience with issue tracking and version control (Jira, GitHub)
• Ability to work independently and drive quality initiatives as our first dedicated QA hire
• Excellent remote work skills with strong written and verbal communication
BONUS QUALIFICATIONS
• Background in hospitality, travel, or reservations systems (hotels, RV parks, campgrounds, property management)
• Familiarity with our tech stack: PHP, MySQL, Symfony, React, Azure
• Experience testing applications with booking/reservation functionality
• Marina, marine, or recreational industry experience
• Small company or startup experience where you've built processes from scratch

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
• Salary: $100,000 - $120,000 annually, based on experience
