About the position

NOTE: This position is located at Nordstrom's downtown Seattle headquarters and follows a hybrid work model, with four days in the office and one remote workday each week. We don’t just sell cutting‑edge fashion and accessories — we create them. Our talented fashion design team, the Nordstrom Product Group (NPG), develops, designs, produces, and sources all Nordstrom‑brand products. From traditional to trendy, this team shapes the styles and looks our customers love. And now, we have an exciting opportunity to join this team. As a Senior Product Developer, you will drive the development of Nordstrom-owned private label product, and you will mentor other Developers. Using your product expertise and strong negotiation skills, you will build products that meet cost and quality standards. You will partner with internal teams including Merchandising, Design, and Technical Design, along with a network of external vendor partners, to create compelling seasonal assortments.

Responsibilities
• Develop products, with increased style count in breadth and/or scope, that are engineered to cost standards and review prototypes for quality, brand aesthetic, and design intent that meets minimum order quantities and follows line plan
• Meet product development milestones and calendar due dates with pre-production tracking and reporting (prototype, color, sample yardage, testing, etc.).
• Lead negotiations with vendors through product lifecycle i.e. costing, time and action, minimums, etc.
• Lead and mentor other product developers within brand team through product development, calendar milestones, sourcing strategy and adoption reporting
• Place developed and adopted styles in accordance with the Sourcing Strategy and provide ongoing recommendations to support evolution.
• Provide costing rollups for brand or classification at final cost.
• Identify potential Raw Materials/Sourcing opportunity for efficiency & speed.
• Identify root causes and process improvement opportunities
• Analyze and leverage company reports to review business, category needs/trends.

Requirements
• Bachelor’s Degree, preferred
• Minimum 7 years’ experience in product development, design or production in garment manufacturing
• Knowledge of raw materials and garment construction.
• Experience working and communicating with domestic and international manufacturers
• Clear and effective written and verbal communication and strong interpersonal skills working with multiple leadership levels
• Ability to provide leadership, supervision and direction to peers through development process
• Ability to demonstrate capabilities through a costing exercise
• Proficiency in Excel and Outlook
• Familiarity with a Product Lifecycle Management system, preferred
