Senior Network Engineer (REMOTE or MA based)
About the position
Hanover Technology Group is hiring a Senior Network Engineer for our Data Network Services team in our Worcester, MA office or remote work location. POSITION OVERVIEW: Primarily responsible for the engineering, installation, configuration, security, performance, maintenance, monitoring, and support of our ADC load-balancing environment, with secondary responsibilities in typical networking areas. This is a fulltime, exempt position.
Responsibilities
ā¢ Support our Application Delivery Controller (ADC) load-balancing environment as a dedicated member of the Identity and Access Management (IAM) team.
ā¢ Deliver ADC solutions as needed to further the integration of the IAM program throughout the technology landscape.
ā¢ ADC Policy Development and Support (Access and Request)
ā¢ ADC script programming
ā¢ ADC OAuth & SAML Integrations
ā¢ Maintain ADC documentation, drawings, and as-builts
ā¢ Crosstrain other members of the networking team.
ā¢ Engineer, configure, implement, monitor, maintain, troubleshoot, upgrade, patch, and secure network infrastructure components.
ā¢ In collaboration with our MSP, troubleshoot and resolve networking infrastructure and equipment problems, including configuration, hardware, and software problems, in a timely and effective manner.
ā¢ Rack and install equipment in datacenters and colo-facilities.
ā¢ Collaborate and coordinate with telecommunications providers, vendors, and partners.
ā¢ Use Visio to create and maintain detailed network drawings at the ISO Layers 1, 2, & 3 level.
ā¢ Participate in change management meetings.
ā¢ Recommend upgrades, enhancements, and other technology-debt remediation efforts.
ā¢ Drive Technology Services Lifecycle Management activities related to vulnerability and configuration management.
ā¢ Create SOPs, plans, and other documentation to aid with knowledge transfer to other engineers.
ā¢ Serve as network technology SME and 3rd level escalation support for other engineers, teams, and business personnel.
ā¢ Teach, train, and mentor peers and colleagues on network infrastructure principles and practices.
ā¢ Make difficult decisions under pressure, balancing the need to gather detailed information and perform analysis, with the need for timeliness.
ā¢ Participates in and promotes co-operative working relationships across organizations including knowledge sharing and partnership in achieving solutions.
ā¢ Stay abreast of changes in the IT networking industry.
ā¢ May be required to work onsite, and during off-hour maintenance windows.
ā¢ May be required to provide off hours support including nights and weekends.
Requirements
ā¢ Extensive experience with industry-leading ADC load-balancing products, their policies, and their internal scripting language/programming.
ā¢ Experience working with a team of network engineers and operations members possessing various levels of experience from junior through senior level.
ā¢ Experience working with Managed Services resources with offshore personnel including the coordination and tracking of deliverables.
ā¢ Experience leading through teaching and mentoring.
ā¢ Must have excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
ā¢ Project management, and time management skills.
ā¢ Experience with enterprise change management practices.
ā¢ Familiarity with ITIL service management frameworks and practices.
ā¢ Ability to work in a highly collaborative and highly matrixed, fast-paced, entrepreneurial, transparent, and flexible work environment.
ā¢ Ability to build strong insightful relationships quickly; must have top-notch communication skills (oral and written); must be able to network effectively at all levels but especially at the executive and business partner level.
ā¢ Must be eligible to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship (ie. must be a US citizen or Greencard holder)
ā¢ 8-10 years of professional experience in IT network engineering and operations.
ā¢ Must have 5+ years of hands-on experience with industry-leading ADC platforms including load-balancing capabilities, script programming, access policy development, and other associated policy development.
ā¢ Understanding of LAN and WAN technologies, protocols, and designs.
ā¢ Experience with Cisco Catalyst and Nexus routing and switching platforms, including IOS, IOS-XE, and NX-OS operating systems, and common HA and redundancy features.
ā¢ Experience with Cisco ACI fabrics and infrastructure.
ā¢ Experience with Aruba Wireless Networking.
ā¢ Experience with Citrix NetScaler VPN.
ā¢ Experience with Infoblox grids.
ā¢ Experience with common LAN/WAN routing protocols including (EIGRP, OSPF, BGP, and others)
ā¢ Familiarity with Cloud based networking in Azure.
ā¢ Familiarity with Linux and Windows Operating Systems
ā¢ Familiarity with foundational enterprise technologies such as DNS, DHCP, PKI, LDAP, Syslog, and Monitoring systems.
