As a Senior Network Engineer, you'll play a critical role in designing, operating, and maintaining the Open Connect global backbone and peering connectivity that enables our streaming service to deliver high-quality content to millions of users worldwide. About the Role The Open Connect Network Engineering team is responsible for ensuring that our content delivery network (CDN) is optimized for performance, scalability, and reliability. As a Senior Network Engineer, you'll work closely with cross-functional teams, including peering, provisioning, and ISP partner engagement, to manage our global network infrastructure and ensure seamless content delivery. Key Responsibilities: Collaborate with colleagues to design, maintain, and upgrade the Open Connect network infrastructure across 80+ locations worldwide. Work with internal teams and vendors to manage our global growth, focusing on maintaining a high level of Quality of Experience (QoE) for Netflix users. Partner with carriers, data center providers, and hardware vendors to manage and troubleshoot network issues. Contribute to the development and implementation of complex network designs, providing operational considerations and practical feedback. Work with the Network Tools team to develop automation solutions that improve accuracy and reduce timeframes for everyday tasks. Develop and maintain technical documentation, and collaborate with stakeholders to drive projects forward. Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to seek additional context or clarification when needed. Requirements and Qualifications To succeed in this role, you'll need: Essential Qualifications: A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Engineering). Significant professional experience in network engineering, with a focus on large-scale, multi-vendor WANs. Expert knowledge of IP routing, particularly BGP and IS-IS. Experience with the internet ecosystem, including interconnection, peering, and transit. Familiarity with MPLS, QoS, and DWDM concepts and technologies. Experience with network automation using Python. Preferred Qualifications: Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a global presence. Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex technical issues and develop creative solutions. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders. A passion for staying up-to-date with the latest developments in networking technology and trends.
