What You'll Do
As a Senior Mechanical Designer at arenaflex, you'll own the complete design, development, and deployment of production systems and custom automation for touch, sensing, and display modules destined for high-volume manufacturing. Your work will span the entire spectrum of arenaflex products and emerging technologies, ensuring that every component meets our exacting standards for quality, performance, and reliability.
Key Responsibilities
Lead end-to-end mechanical design of standalone functional systems from concept through production release, ensuring manufacturability and scalability
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including hardware development, optical engineering, electrical design, and software teams to integrate mechanical solutions seamlessly
Design automation systems optimized for high-volume production environments while maintaining flexibility for product variation
Develop comprehensive system requirements through detailed analysis, prototyping, and testing methodologies
Apply engineering expertise in precision component design, motion control systems, and opto-mechanical integration
Utilize scientific methodology to troubleshoot complex issues and implement robust, sustainable solutions
Document best practices and maintain a library of approved designs, creating standard operating procedures (SOPs) for team reference
Conduct failure analysis and root cause investigation to drive continuous improvement across all product lines
Mentor junior team members and contribute to knowledge sharing across the organization
What We're Looking For
Essential Qualifications
Strong mechanical system design experience encompassing fixture design, machine design, mechatronics, and electronic packaging
Proficiency in 3D CAD software (NX, SolidWorks, or Master/E) with demonstrated ability to create complex assemblies and production-ready designs
Expertise in drafting standards and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) practices to ensure precision and manufacturability
Analytical experience including Finite Element Analysis (FEA), tolerance stack-up analysis, error budgeting, and root cause analysis
Knowledge of manufacturing processes including precision machining, heat treatments, injection molding, and sheet metal fabrication
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present technical concepts to diverse audiences
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required; Master's degree preferred
Preferred Experience
Previous experience in consumer electronics development, ideally in high-volume production environments
Specialized expertise in opto-mechanical design including camera mounts, optical assemblies, kinematic mounts, and precision alignment systems
Track record of creating standalone equipment for consumer electronics products and modules
Experience designing mechanical systems for PCBs, flexible printed circuits (FPC), connectors, and electronic interconnects
Background in high-precision component design and motion control systems
Familiarity with cleanroom environments and low-particle-count manufacturing requirements
Understanding of machine vision systems and automated optical inspection (AOI) technologies
