Senior Manufacturing Supplier Development Manager (U.S.)

Location: San Francisco Bay Area, CA (Remote - Bay Area Only)

Travel: 25-50% (primarily local Bay Area supplier visits)

Build the Manufacturing Network Powering the Next Generation of Hardware

Fictiv is building the world's leading platform for hardware manufacturing-and that only works if our supplier network is exceptional.

As a Senior Manufacturing Supplier Development Manager, you'll own the identification, qualification, and development of U.S.-based manufacturing partners across CNC machining, sheet metal, additive manufacturing, and injection molding. This role is about real manufacturing judgment-understanding what suppliers can actually produce, not just what they say they can quote.

This is a remote role, but candidates must reside in the San Francisco Bay Area. Local presence is required for frequent, in-person visits to manufacturing partners to assess capabilities, build trust, and drive continuous improvement.

This is not a procurement or desk-only sourcing role. You'll spend meaningful time on factory floors, in technical discussions, and working side-by-side with suppliers to strengthen performance, reliability, and scalability.

You'll report to the Manager of Strategic Sourcing, U.S., and operate as a senior individual contributor and subject-matter expert within the sourcing organization.

Why This Role Matters

The strength of Fictiv's manufacturing network directly impacts our customers' success. In this role, your decisions will shape:
• Supplier performance and reliability
• Customer satisfaction and program success
• Fictiv's ability to scale complex manufacturing programs
• Cost, lead time, and operational resilience across our U.S. supply base

You'll ensure Fictiv maintains a balanced, high-performing domestic supplier ecosystem-with the right mix of capacity, capability, quality, and cost competitiveness.

• Identify and qualify new U.S.-based manufacturing partners
• Conduct on-site evaluations of equipment, processes, quality systems, and capacity
• Assess real-world manufacturing capability-not just paper certifications
• Own onboarding from first conversation through full production readiness

Supplier Relationship & Performance Management
• Build long-term, trusted relationships with strategic manufacturing partners
• Serve as a primary point of contact for supplier performance, alignment, and escalation
• Drive accountability around quality, delivery, and responsiveness
• Engage suppliers both remotely and in person to maintain strong alignment

Commercial Alignment & Negotiation
• Lead or support negotiations for Manufacturing Service Agreements (MSAs)
• Align suppliers on pricing models, lead times, capacity commitments, and performance expectations
• Balance competitiveness with long-term supplier sustainability

Supplier Development & Continuous Improvement

• Partner with Quality, Operations, and Engineering to resolve systemic issues
• Drive adoption of best practices across the supplier network

Network Optimization & Cost Transparency
• Manage a strategically balanced domestic supplier portfolio
• Optimize spend allocation, utilization, and capability coverage
• Analyze cost structures and performance metrics to drive efficiency and transparency

Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Partner closely with Sales, Product Management, Quality, Costing/DFM, and Operations
• Support supply chain development for large or complex customer programs
• Align supplier strategy with customer and program needs

Be Present Where the Work Happens
• Conduct regular on-site visits to manufacturing partner facilities
• Assess constraints, risks, and improvement opportunities firsthand
• Build trust and credibility through face-to-face engagement

Travel Expectation:

25-50% travel, primarily local to the San Francisco Bay Area

What We're Looking For
• 7+ years of experience in supplier development, manufacturing sourcing, supply chain, or manufacturing engineering
• Hands-on experience working directly with U.S.-based manufacturing suppliers
• Regular experience conducting on-site supplier visits and evaluations
• Strong knowledge of CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, injection molding, or additive manufacturing
• Proven success qualifying, developing, and managing manufacturing suppliers
• Strong analytical skills and comfort reviewing cost models and operational data
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Supply Chain, Business, or related field

(Master's degree preferred)
• Self-directed, organized, and comfortable operating autonomously
• Ability to travel 25-50%, primarily within the San Francisco Bay Area
