Position OverviewThis role requires a highly motivated and highly organized sales professional to serve as the primary customer contact for Asia-Pacific (“AP”) based accounts and long-term opportunities, beginning with initial relationship building, through proposal development, contract award and contract formation. Candidates will be ideally based within the AP region.This position will support SubCom’s objectives of EBITDA, cashflow, improving margin and risk mitigation. Compensation includes a base salary, and an annual incentive plan based on company, team, and individual performance.Responsibilities Responsible for sales and account management for long-term, high-value projects for customers throughout the region, with a primary focus on regional and Internet Content Provider (“ICP”) system sales.Serve as the primary customer contact for long-term opportunities, beginning with initial relationship building, through proposal development, contract award and contract formation.Develop an in-depth understanding regarding the customer requirements associated with each bid.Set the proposal schedule with a keen understanding of available resources.Drive the internal team to on-time delivery per the instructions of the customer or Account Manager.Project manage the account team deliverables during the proposal development stage.Liaise with various stakeholders, undertaking research and identifying budgets.Ensure that all information is reviewed and ready before the bid is submitted.Prepare presentations for the internal team, management and offers to customers.Other responsibilities as deemed appropriate.Must be able to manage cultural differences across the AP Region.QualificationsQualifications Bachelor’s degree (Masters preferred) in engineering or business/economics with 12+ years of account management experience, ideally with recent sales experience in subsea telecommunications or data center services.Current knowledge of regional key customers is preferred and existing relationships with key individuals and decision-makers is advantageous.Ability to manage specific deadlines.Attention to detail and superior organizational skills required.Excellent presentation skills a must.Broad-based knowledge across the company’s functions is a plus.Prior experience with project or people management preferred.Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) required.Ability to lead complex, multi-party contract negotiations to successful conclusion.Basic knowledge of fiber-optic systems, bandwidth services, and the fundamentals of optical networking.Basic understanding of project finance and commercial terms for large-scale contracts.Ability to prospect for opportunities and gather market intelligence using professional networking.Ability to manage a bid team and work remotely from the head office while managing a sales territory.Candidates will be ideally based in the AP region.Must be able to work outside of normal business hours when required.NOTE: This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive.
