Our Quality Data Science team sits within the Guest & Host organization and plays a vital role in assessing and improving the quality of the Airbnb experience. By crafting data-informed strategy through causal inference and experimentation and building state-of-the-art technology in large language models and reinforcement learning, Airbnb aims to ensure high-quality experiences and stays across our platform. The Difference You Will Make As a Senior Manager, Data Science – Quality, you will lead the team's strategic effort to define, measure, and improve the quality of the Airbnb experience for our hosts and guests. You will have a significant impact on developing a "universal system" that drives consistent quality across the platform and ensures a seamless and enjoyable experience for Airbnb users. Key Responsibilities: Lead and provide strategic guidance to a team of data scientists, guiding them through advanced modeling and inference tasks in the area of Data Science Quality. Develop and refine Airbnb's Data Science strategy for Quality in collaboration with cross-functional teams, setting the direction for the organization. Ensure the accuracy and effectiveness of highly sophisticated models powering our efforts in Quality, taking ownership of the technical excellence in this domain. Act as the key liaison between the Data Science Quality team and the product organization, fostering effective communication and collaboration at the highest level. Partner closely with product, engineering, and finance teams to align on strategic goals and deliverables, providing executive-level leadership in driving the overall success of initiatives for Quality. Drive the development of groundbreaking and innovative strategies in the domain of Quality, leveraging advanced data science techniques to optimize user engagement and satisfaction. Your Expertise To be successful in this role, you should have: 12+ years of experience with a Bachelor's degree or Masters/PhD in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Data Science, or Statistics. Experience managing individual contributors (ICs). Deep understanding of machine learning, predictive modeling, and data-driven product development. Strong track record of experience in data science, with expertise in forecasting and marketplace dynamics. Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to influence and drive change in a cross-functional environment. Proven experience in developing and implementing data-driven strategies to address complex problems and improve business outcomes. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Strategic thinker with a passion for innovation and problem-solving.
