The Impact You'll Make As a Senior Machine Learning Engineer, you'll be at the helm of using AI/ML to enhance Airbnb's marketing performance. Your projects will span from developing personalized listing and destination recommendations in marketing campaigns to exploring future strategies on generative AI. Your contributions will not only drive business growth but also be valued with a competitive compensation package. A Typical Day Work with large-scale structured and unstructured data to build and continuously improve cutting-edge Machine Learning models for various Airbnb product, business, and operational use cases. Collaborate with cross-functional partners, including software engineers, product managers, operations, and data scientists to identify opportunities for business impact, understand and refine requirements for machine learning models, drive engineering decisions, and quantify impact. Hands-on development, productionization, and operation of Machine Learning models and pipelines at scale, encompassing both batch and real-time use cases. Leverage third-party and in-house Machine Learning tools and infrastructure to develop reusable, highly differentiating, and high-performing Machine Learning systems, enabling fast model development, low-latency serving, and ease of model quality upkeep. Your Expertise To excel in this role, you'll need: 5-9+ years of industry experience, with a BS/Masters degree, or 2+ years with a PhD. Strong programming skills in languages such as Scala, Python, Java, or C++ (or equivalent), and data engineering expertise. A deep understanding of Machine Learning best practices, including training/serving skew minimization, A/B testing, feature engineering, and feature/model selection, as well as algorithms like gradient boosted trees, neural networks/deep learning, and optimization. Industry experience in building end-to-end Machine Learning infrastructure and/or developing and productionizing Machine Learning models. Hands-on experience with large language models (e.g., BERT, LaMDA, GPT-2/3/4, LLaMa) is preferred. Location and Flexibility This is a US Remote Eligible position, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere within the United States, provided you reside in a state where Airbnb, Inc. has a registered entity. While the role is remote eligible, occasional visits to Airbnb offices or attendance at offsites may be required, as agreed upon with your manager. Career Growth and Benefits Our job titles may encompass more than one career level, and the actual base pay is determined by factors such as training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, and market demands.
