Senior Lease Analyst – Oil & Gas
Location: Remote Position Type: Full-Time (Contract)
Position Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Lease Analyst to join our growing oil & gas team. This role is critical in managing and analyzing complex lease agreements, ensuring accurate interpretation of contractual obligations, and supporting operational and financial decision-making. The ideal candidate brings deep industry knowledge, strong analytical skills, and the ability to navigate high-volume, detail-driven environments with confidence.
Key Responsibilities
Analyze, interpret, and abstract oil & gas leases, contracts, and related agreements
Maintain accurate lease records, obligations, and ownership data within land systems
Monitor and track key lease terms including expiration dates, renewals, drilling obligations, and royalty provisions
Collaborate with Land, Division Order, GIS, and Accounting teams to ensure alignment across ownership and lease data
Identify discrepancies in lease terms, ownership, or payments and resolve issues proactively
Support due diligence efforts for acquisitions, divestitures, and title reviews
Prepare detailed reports and summaries for internal stakeholders and leadership
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies
Assist in process improvements and implementation of best practices for lease management
Qualifications
5+ years of experience in oil & gas lease analysis or land administration
Strong understanding of oil & gas lease terms, mineral rights, and ownership structures
Experience with lease management systems (e.g., P2, Quorum, LandWorks, or similar)
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis
Ability to interpret complex legal documents with high accuracy
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in high-volume environments
Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in multiple basins
Background in title analysis, division orders, or landman work
Familiarity with GIS mapping and spatial data related to lease ownership
Bachelor’s degree in Energy Management, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
