Senior Intellectual Property Attorney - Remote

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Intellectual Property Attorney to join their innovative and fully remote legal department. This role is crucial for safeguarding and leveraging the company's intellectual property portfolio. You will be responsible for a broad range of IP matters, including patent prosecution, trademark management, IP litigation support, and IP strategy development. As a remote-first position, this role offers the flexibility to work from any location within the United States, with the primary focus on delivering exceptional legal services to a cutting-edge organization. Primary Responsibilities: Develop and execute comprehensive IP strategies aligned with business objectives. Manage the preparation, filing, and prosecution of patent applications in relevant jurisdictions, working closely with inventors and patent agents/associates. Conduct patentability searches, freedom-to-operate analyses, and validity opinions. Manage and oversee the global trademark portfolio, including clearance, registration, and enforcement. Advise on IP issues related to product development, licensing, joint ventures, and M&A activities. Provide support for IP litigation matters, including discovery, claim construction, and settlement negotiations. Draft and review IP-related agreements such as licenses, assignments, and confidentiality agreements. Monitor the competitive IP landscape and identify potential risks and opportunities. Educate internal teams on IP best practices and compliance. Collaborate effectively with R&D, product management, and business development teams. Stay current with changes in IP law and regulations globally. Manage outside counsel effectively on specialized IP matters. Qualifications: Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school. Admission to practice law in at least one U.S. state and registration to practice before the USPTO. A minimum of 8 years of experience in intellectual property law, with a significant portion focused on patent prosecution and trademark law, preferably in a technology-driven industry. Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing IP strategies. Strong technical background (e.g., in engineering, computer science, or a related scientific field) is highly desirable. Proven experience in managing a global IP portfolio. Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills. Ability to work independently and proactively in a remote setting. Experience with IP litigation support and IP-related transactional work. Ability to manage multiple complex IP matters simultaneously. Team player with strong collaboration skills.
