Senior Integration Engineer – VA Electronic Health Record Modernization (EHRM)
Emerging Tech is seeking a highly skilled Senior Integration Engineer to support the Department of Veterans Affairs’ Electronic Health Record Modernization (EHRM) program. The ideal candidate will expertly navigate complex healthcare IT environments, ensuring seamless integration of advanced healthcare technologies. This role requires collaboration with system integrators, solution architects, and key stakeholders to drive successful delivery of integrated EHR solutions that enhance Veteran healthcare.
What You’ll Do:
• Provide technical leadership and oversight to ensure interface and application development efforts meet VA requirements and industry best practices
• Collaborate closely with system integrators, solution architects, Oracle Health experts, and healthcare technology teams to design, develop, and implement integrated EHR solutions
• Lead interface and application integration efforts involving Oracle Health, VistA, and other legacy VA systems
• Manage a portfolio of interfaces, ensuring smooth transitions through deployment and sustainment phases
• Analyze and review technical artifacts such as Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and technical design specifications
• Support technical design, testing, validation, and cutover planning to ensure successful system transitions
• Engage effectively with legacy system owners, business stakeholders, and Oracle Health teams to resolve technical issues
• Develop and manage decommissioning plans for outdated interfaces and legacy systems
• Identify, assess, and escalate technical risks, challenges, and impediments to leadership in a timely manner
• Develop technical roadmaps, strategies, and briefing materials to guide government leadership decision-making
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives and promote best practices in healthcare IT integration and interoperability
What You’ll Bring:
• 15+ years of professional experience in healthcare IT integration, EHR systems, or enterprise system architecture
• Deep expertise in healthcare interoperability standards such as HL7, FHIR, and DICOM APIs
• Experience with specialized healthcare domains such as radiation oncology treatment planning, dental imaging, and EHR configuration preferred
• Proven hands-on experience with interface development, middleware integration, and managing complex system transitions
• Strong risk assessment, strategic planning, and technical decision-making skills
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related technical field — or 8+ years equivalent professional experience
• Preferred: Prior VA experience and familiarity with VA healthcare systems and workflows
• Preferred: Experience implementing EHR solutions in government or large-scale healthcare environments
