GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
The Senior Industrial Engineer will lead efforts to manage vendor design and bid process for Material Handling Equipment, partner closely with various vendors to manage the execution of capital projects, work with operations to coordinate and implement projects to increase productivity, throughput and capacity, provide guidance and expertise in areas including ergonomics, and associate safety. This position will also assist with special projects. Application of lean manufacturing and six sigma concepts will assist with process and productivity improvements. Oversee and manage technical aspects of the annual capital expenses and assist with ongoing maintenance and repair process across the network of distribution centers in the US and Canada.
ESSENTIAL ACTIVIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for compiling total cost and benefit of proposed capital projects including evaluation of effect on labor, equipment, space, fill rates, accuracy, and other metrics.
Assist with complex capital projects such as, DC (Distribution Center) expansion, new DC startups, and network optimization.
Manage capital projects to modernize, maintain and expand our distribution capacity.
Identify, recommend, and implement changes to optimize processes for safety, quality, and productivity
Utilize process improvement methodologies like Lean, Six Sigma and Kaizen to identify areas of opportunity and make recommendations to maximize efficiency through process change or capital investment.
Analyze network optimization, inventory management and allocation, materials flow, capacity utilization, and improve product slotting, efficiencies, and cost effectiveness.
Teach, coach and train to enhance operational execution and efficiency.
Identify and develop tools and resources to capture and improve Operational and Transportation KPI's.
Validate and ensure that labor and operational processes minimize cost and maximize efficiency.
Requirements:
Bachelors Degree (Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related)
7 years of experience as Industrial Engineer or Project Manager, preferred
3 years of managing large scale capital projects of $30M , preferred
PMP Certification, preferred
Ability to travel up to 80% Nationwide Canada
Starting Salary range: $85,000 - $110,000 Annual Bonus and Equity Programs
