Senior HealthShare Operations Engineer – Remote (Long-Term Contract) We are seeking a highly skilled Senior HealthShare Operations Engineer to support and enhance a large-scale InterSystems HealthShare Information Exchange (HIE) platform. This is a long-term remote contract role working on mission-critical interoperability systems that enable secure, reliable data exchange across healthcare partners. The ideal candidate has deep experience supporting HealthShare environments, strong understanding of healthcare integration standards, and a passion for ensuring high availability, performance, and operational excellence across complex distributed systems. What You’ll Do • Coordinate and execute code deployments, environment updates, and configuration changes across multiple HealthShare environments. • Partner with development teams to understand new features and translate requirements into operational readiness and support plans. • Evaluate existing system configurations, ensuring the HIE platform meets standards for performance, security, scalability, and availability. • Assess capacity and performance metrics and recommend or implement improvements. • Lead and support incident and problem management, coordinating with cross-functional teams to resolve service disruptions. • Provide technical guidance on emerging technologies within InterSystems and broader interoperability ecosystems. • Collaborate with system administrators to tune and configure Linux OS environments that support the application stack. • Research new and existing technologies to support platform improvements and modernization efforts. • Work closely with project technical leads to define integration requirements, workflows, and operational standards. • Create clear, professional documentation including diagrams, runbooks, deployment guides, and system architecture materials. • Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Required Experience & Skills • 4+ years of hands-on experience with InterSystems HealthShare, including working with HIE environments and integrations with external healthcare partners. • Experience with clustering and load balancing within HealthShare/InterSystems environments. • Strong background with Linux operating systems (RHEL preferred). • Understanding of HL7, FHIR, CCD/C-CDA and other healthcare interoperability standards. • Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Puppet, or similar. • Familiarity with web/application servers including Apache, Tomcat, and JBoss. • Knowledge of JMS, JMX, JSF, web services (SOAP/REST), XML, XSDs, XSLTs. • Working knowledge of Java/J2EE concepts and API integrations. • Experience with Terraform and/or Ansible is a plus. Education • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent experience).
