This role provides an exciting opportunity to take ownership of complex backend systems, modernize legacy applications, and drive forward new feature development. You will work primarily with Ruby on Rails, focusing on APIs, worker systems, and event-driven architectures, while also contributing across the full stack. Accountabilities Design, build, and maintain Ruby on Rails applications, with a strong focus on APIs and event-driven systems. Develop and optimize high-performance background workers using Sidekiq for large-scale processing. Contribute across the stack, ensuring seamless integration of backend and frontend systems. Refactor and modernize legacy codebases to reduce technical debt and improve maintainability. Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and engineers to deliver high-quality features. Anticipate challenges, propose improvements, and take initiative in both technical and process areas. Mentor junior developers, fostering a culture of best practices, collaboration, and knowledge sharing. Stay current with industry trends and remain open to learning new technologies such as Kotlin. Requirements Minimum 5 years of professional software engineering experience. Strong expertise in Ruby on Rails, particularly in APIs and event-driven systems. Proven experience with Sidekiq or similar background job processing frameworks. Hands-on experience with legacy systems, with the ability to refactor and optimize effectively. Self-motivated, proactive, and comfortable working independently in a remote setup. Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with global, cross-functional teams. Must be based in India and available to join within 45 days or less. Preferred Qualifications : Familiarity with Kotlin (or willingness to learn). Experience with modern frontend frameworks (React, Vue, or similar). Strong database expertise (PostgreSQL or MySQL). Knowledge of cloud environments, preferably AWS.
