About the Position The Senior Exam Developer position is a critical part of our University's electronic exam team, which supports the effective development and distribution of electronic exams using University-supported applications. As a Senior Exam Developer, you will provide direct supervision of electronic exam team personnel, oversee electronic exam processes, identify opportunities for continuous quality improvement, and support virtual proctoring processes. You will work closely with faculty members to create electronic exams, transform conventional paper-based exams into electronic formats, manage exam distribution to students, troubleshoot issues, and provide training on exam applications. Key Responsibilities Provide direct supervision and leadership to the electronic exam team, ensuring the effective development and distribution of electronic exams. Oversee electronic exam processes, identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes to enhance efficiency and quality. Collaborate with faculty members to develop electronic exams, aligning exam items with learning goals and objectives, and identifying effective electronic exam administration strategies. Manage the distribution of electronic exams to students, ensuring timely and secure access to exam materials. Serve as the primary point of contact for faculty to troubleshoot electronic exam issues, providing prompt and effective support. Develop and deliver training to individuals and groups on the use of exam applications, both in-person and virtually. Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in electronic exam technology, making recommendations for new tools and processes to enhance the University's exam capabilities. Qualifications and Skills To be successful in this role, you will need to possess a unique blend of technical, leadership, and communication skills. The essential qualifications for this position include: A Master's degree in a relevant field; a Bachelor's degree with significant work experience may be considered in lieu of a Master's degree. At least 2 years of supervisory experience in a higher education academic learning environment, with a focus on oversight of processes and continuous quality improvement. 4 years of related experience in an academic learning environment, using digital teaching and learning resources, with a preference for experience working with distance higher education and/or providing front-line support for faculty teaching online. Demonstrated ability to provide troubleshooting support for faculty use of digital teaching and learning tools, such as learning management systems, exam software, or other instructional technologies. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to develop and deliver training to individuals and groups in person and virtually. Strong time management and organizational skills, with the ability to work independently and manage multiple projects and staff simultaneously. Preferred Qualifications While not essential, the following qualifications are highly desirable: Experience working with electronic exam software and technologies, such as online proctoring tools and learning management systems. Knowledge of instructional design principles and adult learning theory, with the ability to apply these principles to the development of electronic exams. Familiarity with accessibility guidelines and regulations, such as Section 508, and the ability to ensure that electronic exams are accessible to all students. Experience with data analysis and reporting, with the ability to use data to inform decisions about electronic exam development and administration.
