Senior Founding Engineer - Data
First Bite is an innovative, venture-backed startup revolutionizing how food manufacturers go-to-market. Founded by Reed McCord, a former Impossible Foods executive with a decade of industry experience, we are addressing the inefficiencies in the food supply chain. Our mission is to streamline operations for food manufacturers, enabling them to reach more customers at a reduced cost. First Bite... is a public benefit corporation, with a dual focus on generating profit and improving the speed-to-market for affordable, nutritious, sustainable food. In our first year of operations, we rolled out multiple products to a first wave of customers and secured a first round of venture funding. We're now poised to expand our core team as we prepare to scale in 2024.
We are seeking a Founding Senior Data Engineer with experience building complex applications that scale. This role is ideal for someone who not only loves challenging technical problems but also wants to contribute to the strategic direction of our product development. The ideal candidate is a quick learner, highly adaptable, collaborative, and user-centric. While we appreciate familiarity with the food service industry and/or our current tech stack, we also value diverse candidates who can demonstrate robust technical acumen and an entrepreneurial spirit.
Responsibilities
??Design and Implement Scalable Data Pipelines: Architect and develop robust data pipelines, ensuring efficient processing and scalability.
??Lead Backend Development Efforts: Take charge of backend development, scaling applications to accommodate thousands of users and aligning technical solutions with business objectives.
??Database Modeling and Optimization: Apply expertise in databases to design good models, optimize database performance, and maintain data integrity.
Requirements
??Expertise in Python and data engineering including setting up large data pipelines, using tools like Airflow and DBT for data pipelines
??Proficiency in backend development with experience in scaling applications to thousands of users
??Experience in database modeling
??Experience with web scraping
??Experience in data analysis and visualization
??Some knowledge of ML Ops and machine learning
??Strong experience in SQL, particularly with Postgres, and experience in scaling Postgres databases
??Experience in data QA with tools like Great Expectations
??Nice to have: A strong visual eye and design capabilities
??Nice to have: Front End development experience in React
??Nice to have: Deep background in data science
Additional information
Compensation: Salary Range: $120,000 - $160,000, commensurate with experience and location. Health insurance, 401k match, Unlimited PTO (we actually take PTO). Meaningful equity package. Location: Remote, with quarterly in person weeks at Bay Area HQ. Expectation of 6+ working hours overlap with PST time zone
