What is the role?

We are looking for a Senior ETL / Talend Integration Developer to lead the design, build, and ownership of complex data and system integrations across our technology landscape. This role goes beyond hands on development and includes technical leadership, architectural input, and mentoring, while remaining a strong individual contributor.
You will play a key role in ensuring our integration platform is scalable, secure, resilient, and aligned to business priorities, working closely with product, engineering, data, and operational teams.

Key Responsibilities

Senior Level Development & Architecture

Lead the design and development of complex ETL pipelines using Talend (DI / ESB / Cloud)
Own end to end delivery of integration solutions, from requirements through to production support
Make and document technical design decisions around integration patterns, performance, and scalability
Define and evolve integration standards, reusable frameworks, and best practices
Review and approve integration designs and Talend jobs created by other developers


Data & Integration Ownership

Build and maintain integrations across databases, APIs, SaaS platforms, third party providers, and legacy systems
Ensure data integrity, reconciliation, and auditability, especially in regulated environments
Optimise ETL jobs for performance, reliability, and high data volumes
Implement robust logging, error handling, alerting, and recovery mechanisms


Leadership & Mentoring

Act as a technical mentor for mid and junior developers
Conduct code reviews and enforce quality standards
Support estimation, planning, and prioritisation of integration work
Be the go to technical expert for Talend and integration related topics


Stakeholder Collaboration

Partner with product owners, business analysts, and architects to shape integration solutions
Translate business requirements into clear, scalable technical designs
Support UAT and production go lives, including troubleshooting complex issues
Communicate clearly with technical and non technical stakeholders


Operations & Continuous Improvement

Provide 3rd line support for integration issues in production
Identify legacy integration risks and drive modernisation improvements
Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and environment management
Champion improvements in monitoring, observability, and operational resilience

Who is best suited to this role?

Technical Experience

6–10+ years experience in ETL / data integration development
Strong, recent hands on experience with Talend (Data Integration, ESB, or Talend Cloud)
Advanced understanding of:
ETL design patterns
Data transformation and mapping
Batch and near real time integrations
Strong SQL skills and experience working with enterprise scale databases
Proven experience integrating with REST/SOAP APIs, file based feeds, and third party systems
Experience implementing robust error handling, logging, and reconciliation


Architecture & Engineering

Experience contributing to integration and data architecture decisions
Strong knowledge of SDLC, release management, and environment promotion
Solid understanding of version control (Git) and collaborative development practices
Appreciation of security, data protection, and compliance requirements (e.g. GDPR)


Desirable / Nice to Have

Talend Cloud and cloud native integration experience
Cloud platforms: AWS, Azure, or GCP
Modern data platforms (Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery, Azure Synapse)
Event driven or messaging technologies (Kafka, RabbitMQ, cloud messaging services)
CI/CD experience for data and integration workloads
Experience in financial services, fintech, or other regulated sectors
