Responsibilities:
The Sr. ETL Developer will support Barrow Wise's Chicago Public Schools (CPS) project and perform the following duties:
Ā• Maintain and manage the existing CPS Enterprise Data Warehouse and ODS builds.
Ā• Model extensions to the existing Data Warehouse.
Ā• Build ETL components according to ETL specifications. Code must address performance, dependency, auditing, error handling, and data quality issues.
Ā• Create REST API integrations with CPS vendors and Partners.
Ā• Support post-deployment by debugging, fixing, and participating in maintenance.
Ā• Create reports to meet business requirements and address data needs.
Ā• Create Dashboard pages and metrics within the CPS custom dashboard solution.
Ā• Maintain data integrity and quality within the Dashboard presentation layer.
Ā• Participate in code reviews and ensure that all solutions align with pre-defined architectural specifications; identify/troubleshoot code-related issues; and review and provide feedback on the final user documentation.
Ā• Read and understand business requirements, write functional requirements, develop detailed technical designs, and build/unit/system test ETL code.
Ā• Work remotely.
An ideal candidate has the following:
Ā• S. Citizenship
Ā• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field.
Ā• 10+ years of Enterprise Data Warehouse experience
Ā• 5+ years of experience with an ETL product (SSIS, Ab Initio, etc.) in a development role (administrative knowledge a plus)
Ā• Good knowledge of data modeling/Star Schema
Ā• Strong expertise in ANSI SQL, SQL Server 2012/2019, and REST API development.
Ā• Experience with C#, Python, JavaScript, JSON, XMS, and an understanding of HTTP/HTTPS and RESTful design.
Ā• Ability to develop and organize high-quality documentation.
Ā• Experience with at least one job scheduler.
Ā• Experience in CPS or large school district and knowledge of CPS Selective Enrollment process.
Ā• Experience with compliance reporting (State and DOE)
Ā• Knowledge of the Aspen SIS database and OneRoster 1.1 or later
Ā• Preferred: Knowledge of SalesForceBULK API and ISBE WCF SOAP Protocol.
Ā• Strong written and oral communication skills.
Ā• Proven ability and initiative to quickly learn and research new concepts, ideas, and technologies.
Ā• Strong systems/process orientation with demonstrated analytical thinking, organizational skills, and problem-solving skills.
Ā• Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
Ā• Ability to quickly pick up new tools and technologies.
Ā• Willingness and ability to train and teach others.
Ā• Ability to facilitate meetings and follow up with resulting action items.
Ā• Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
Ā• Strong presentation and interpersonal skills.
