Job description: Position DescriptionOur Senior Engineer works with our Staff Engineers and Sr. Engineers to innovate and build new systems, improve, and enhance existing systems as well as identify new opportunities to apply your knowledge to solve critical problems. You will help in the delivery of high-quality products, unlocking new engineering capabilities. Additionally, you will maintain GEICO's operating systems, contribute to the upstream Linux community, and optimize runtimes for Java, GoLang, Node.js, Python, and .NET environments.Position ResponsibilitiesAs a Senior Engineer, you will:Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the security, availability, and performance of containerized applications.Contribute to the development of best practices and standards in container runtime technology.Play a hands-on role in the deployment, scaling, and lifecycle management of containerized applications using Docker, Kubernetes, and related orchestration platforms.Collaborate effectively with other technical professionals and teams to ensure seamless integration of container runtimes with the overall technology stack.Implement and enforce security measures for container runtimes to protect against vulnerabilities and threats.Collaborate with quality assurance teams to ensure the reliability and efficiency of container runtime solutions.QualificationsExperience with continuous delivery and infrastructure as codeProven experience in designing, deploying, and optimizing container runtimes.Strong expertise in Docker, Kubernetes, and related container orchestration platforms.In-depth knowledge of operating systems, especially Linux.Experience in managing end-to-end container image lifecycles.Ability to excel in a fast-paced, startup-like environmentKnowledge of developer tooling across the software development life cycle (task management, source code, building, deployment, operations, real-time communication)Fluency in DevOps Concepts, Cloud Architecture, and Azure DevOps Operational FrameworkFluency and specialization with at least one modern language such as Go, or RustDemonstrated ability to design and implement resilient, scalable, and efficient solutionsStrong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating security risks and vulnerabilitiesExcellent communication skills, able to communicate complete technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholdersExperience4+ years of experience of developing and running container orchestration platforms for large enterprises at scale.3+ years of experience with architecture, and design3+ years of experience with open-source frameworks is desired.2+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or another cloud serviceEducationBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent education or work experience#LI-RP2Annual Salary $90,000.00 - $215,000.00The above annual salary range is a general guideline.
