Job Summary The Senior Donation Coordinator plays a critical role in coordinating the gift of health and life given through the donation of musculoskeletal, skin, cardiovascular, and ocular tissue. As a subject matter expert in Donation Discussion, you'll partner with our Learning and Development team, Donation Coordinator Field Trainers, and Donor Operations management to develop and deliver training plans and materials that ensure our team members are equipped to speak with families about tissue donation opportunities and benefits. Key Responsibilities Training and Development: Participate as a subject matter expert in Donation Discussion, partnering with Learning and Development, Donation Coordinator Field Trainers, and Donor Operations management to evaluate, develop, and update training plans and materials. Collaborate with Donation Coordinator Field Trainers to identify trends and keep management informed of variances in application of department policies and procedures. Assist with on-going and on-the-job training of team members in Donation Discussion, documenting training progress in our learning management system. Family Care Specialist - Donation Discussion: Provide in-depth medical screening of potential tissue donors, effectively communicating with referral source personnel to determine suitability for tissue recovery based on regulatory guidelines. Conduct donation discussions with legally authorized individuals, documenting authorization per DNWest policy. Deal with death and grieving families in a caring and professional manner. Referrals and Donor Screening: Accept inbound referral calls and emails, assessing suitability for organ and tissue donation. Capture all information accurately and completely into our donor management software. Case Coordination: Review clinical data and case notes to preempt processors' needs and identify gaps in information. Coordinate all aspects required for donation to occur, including recovery process coordination with external partners. General Team Expectations: Complete all Learning Management System (LMS) assignments on time. Attend required trainings and mandatory meetings. Be available to complete chart corrections within a timely manner. Qualifications and Requirements To be successful in this role, you'll need: A minimum of 5 years of experience approaching grieving families and securing tissue authorizations at DNWest or an AATB-accredited OPO/Tissue Bank. A total number of authorized cases year over year averaging a minimum of 375. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate with clarity and kindness. Awareness of or willingness to learn standard practices in presentation, facilitation, and adult learning theory. Ability to effectively maneuver through multiple computer programs operating simultaneously. Strong attention to detail, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced dynamic environment. Education and Experience High School diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree in biological sciences or an equivalent degree/diploma/certification in an allied health field preferred. Minimum of 5 years direct work experience required. Certified Transplant Preservationist (CTP), Certified Procurement Transplant Coordinator (CPTC), or Certified Tissue Banking Specialist (CTBS) preferred.
