As a Senior Data Scientist at arenaflex, you will play a pivotal role in leading our analytics initiatives, mentoring the data science team, and collaborating with cross-functional partners to deliver insights that matter. What You'll Do

As a leader in our data science practice, you will be responsible for driving the analytical vision and strategy for our omni-channel retail operations. Your days will be filled with diverse challenges that require both technical excellence and business acumen.

Strategic Leadership

Set the strategic vision and direction for the data science team, with a focus on Omni-Channel analysis across physical retail locations and digital commerce platforms
Lead cross-functional teams, collaborating with Analysts, Technical Partners, and Business Leaders to establish improvement roadmaps based on business needs and market trends
Translate complex business requirements into precise technical specifications that guide development initiatives and ensure successful project delivery
Facilitate strategy alignment sessions, adapting approaches to evolving business drivers, challenges, and long-term organizational objectives


Technical Excellence

Design and implement efficient data pipelines that address complex business challenges, leveraging technical tools and retail systems architecture
Establish and enforce data science team best practices, including conducting comprehensive code reviews for team members to ensure quality and consistency
Utilize advanced analytics techniques including regression analysis, machine learning, clustering, and predictive modeling to drive actionable insights
Develop sophisticated algorithms and models that forecast trends, optimize inventory, and enhance customer experiences across all touchpoints


Communication & Visualization

Create compelling visuals, diagrams, and charts that resonate with data, tailoring presentations to diverse audiences from technical teams to executive leadership
Translate technical findings into clear, actionable business recommendations that influence strategic decisions at all levels of the organization
Present complex analytical results to stakeholders in a manner that drives understanding and encourages data-driven decision-making
Develop data-driven narratives that tell compelling stories about customer behavior, market trends, and business performance


What You Bring

We're seeking a candidate with a proven track record of delivering impactful analytical solutions in fast-paced, dynamic environments. The ideal candidate will combine deep technical expertise with strong business intuition and exceptional leadership capabilities.

Essential Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science, Economics, or a related quantitative field
Experience: 2+ years of experience developing Analysis, Statistical, or AI models to extract insights and solve business challenges, ideally in a retail, e-commerce, or consumer goods environment
Technical Skills: Demonstrated proficiency in web analytics and visitor segmentation using data to drive informed decisions and improve online experiences
Leadership: Experience leading small teams in rapid and accurate data analysis, feature definition, and innovative problem-solving for complex business challenges
Analytical Expertise: Strong ability to work on intricate problems and develop data-driven stories for decision-making
Cloud Platform Experience: Proficiency with cloud platforms and modern technology stacks for data processing and analysis
Machine Learning: Expertise in machine learning or artificial intelligence techniques for predictive analytics
Problem-Solving: Strong aptitude for troubleshooting and root cause analysis to identify and resolve data quality issues
Adaptability: Thrives in fast-moving, changing environments with the ability to pivot quickly as business needs evolve
Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills for effective team and individual interaction across all organizational levels


Preferred Qualifications

Experience with various project management methodologies (Waterfall, Agile, Scrum) and the ability to adapt approaches based on project requirements
Familiarity with retail analytics, point-of-sale data, and consumer behavior modeling
Knowledge of entertainment, media, or consumer products industries
Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in a related quantitative field


Technical Proficiency Requirements

Our ideal candidate will demonstrate proficiency across multiple data technology domains:

Data Pipeline & ETL Tools

Experience with ETL tools such as SQL, SSIS, Knime, Alteryx, or Tableau Prep
Knowledge of data integration patterns and best practices for large-scale data processing


Database Platforms

Proficiency with Snowflake and SQL Server database platforms
Strong SQL querying skills for data extraction, transformation, and analysis


Programming Languages

Scripting languages including Snowscript, JavaScript, VBA, or Python
Statistical and Data Science languages such as R, SAS, or Python for Data Science
Ability to write efficient, maintainable code for data analysis and model development


Advanced Analytics Techniques

Experience with regression analysis, clustering, and statistical inference
Knowledge of hypothesis testing, p-values, and causal inference methodologies
Proficiency with ensemble methods including Random Forest, Bagging, and Boosting
Time series analysis and forecasting techniques
