As a Senior Data Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining large-scale data systems, leveraging your expertise in data engineering, architecture, and analytics to drive business growth and improvement. This is a remote opportunity, allowing you to work from anywhere in the United States (except for certain ineligible states and territories). Key Responsibilities Design, build, and maintain large-scale data systems, including data pipelines, architectures, and tools Collect and process large, complex sets of data to meet functional and non-functional business requirements Identify, plan, and execute process improvements, including re-architecting infrastructure for greater scalability, improving data delivery, and automating manual processes Construct required frameworks for timely extraction, transformation, and loading of data from various data sources using AWS and SQL technologies Develop analytical tools to leverage the data pipeline, providing valuable insights into key business performance metrics, including operational efficiency and customer acquisition Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data, design, product, and executive teams, to help them with data-related technical issues Develop or modify hardware and technology to serve customer needs May perform other job duties as directed by Employee's Managers Essential Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field 5+ years of experience in data engineering, architecture, or a related field Strong expertise in data engineering, architecture, and analytics Proficiency in AWS and SQL technologies Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex data sets and develop creative solutions Strong communication and collaboration skills, with experience working with cross-functional teams Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field 7+ years of experience in data engineering, architecture, or a related field Experience with data engineering tools, such as Apache Beam, Apache Spark, or Apache Flink Knowledge of machine learning and artificial intelligence technologies Experience with cloud-based data platforms, such as AWS or Azure Skills and Competencies Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex data sets and develop creative solutions Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience working with cross-functional teams Ability to think critically and strategically, with a focus on driving business growth and improvement Strong attention to detail, with a focus on delivering high-quality results Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with a focus on innovation and experimentation Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At Southwest Airlines, we are committed to the growth and development of our employees.
