Job Summary and Key Responsibilities
The Senior Data Engineer will contribute to Starbucks' success by building corporate data services for analytic solutions. The key responsibilities of this role include:
Demonstrating deep knowledge of the data engineering area, including non-interactive (batch, distributed) and real-time, highly available data, and data pipelines
Developing and optimizing data products to serve client personas, Data Science, AI/ML, and data visualization
Building fault-tolerant, self-healing, adaptive, and highly accurate data computational pipelines
Providing sessions and leading the implementation of complex programs
Developing and maintaining documentation related to all assigned systems and projects
Performing root cause analysis to identify permanent resolutions to software or business process issues
Essential Qualifications and Skills
To be successful in this role, you must have:
A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
Strong professional skills in Spark (PySpark) using Jupyter Notebooks, Colab, or DataBricks
Hands-on experience with data pipeline development, ingest patterns in Azure
Experience with orchestration tools, such as ADF or Airflow
SQL skills
Denormalized Data modeling for large data structures
Collaborative mindset, with the ability to work remotely and be an engaging team member
Strong analytical and design skills
Preferred Qualifications and Experience
Preferred candidates will have:
7-10 years of experience in architecting and designing large-scale, high-performance distributed systems
7-10 years of experience in SQL Platform
3+ years of experience in No-SQL Platform
3+ years of experience in Spark
3+ years of experience in Data platform implementation on Azure or AWS
2+ years of experience in CI/CD experience
Exposure to SOA architecture
