We are currently seeking a talented and experienced Senior Data Engineer to join our Information Design group within our Data and Digital Solutions division. Position Overview

We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer who will be responsible for designing and executing sophisticated ETL/ELT data pipelines, planning and implementing database mappings, tables, and views, and building batch processes using Apache Airflow for multiple critical projects. This role is central to our data operations and requires someone who can collaborate effectively with various stakeholders across the organization.

As a Senior Data Engineer at arenaflex, you will work closely with our Studios and Project Technology teams on diverse activities including data requirements gathering, data validation scripting and review, developing and testing ETL/ELT data pipelines, designing and implementing database schemas, tables, and views, and coordinating deployments across multiple environments including Development, QA/UAT, and Production.

Key Responsibilities


Pipeline Development: Design, build, and maintain robust ETL/ELT data pipelines that efficiently process large volumes of data from various sources to destinations
Database Architecture: Plan and implement database mappings, tables, views, and schemas that support business requirements and ensure data integrity
Workflow Automation: Create and manage batch processes using Apache Airflow to automate data workflows and ensure timely data delivery
Collaboration: Partner with Studios and Project Technology teams to gather data requirements and translate business needs into technical solutions
Data Validation: Develop and execute data validation scripts to ensure data quality, accuracy, and consistency across all data assets
Environment Management: Coordinate deployments across Development, QA/UAT, and Production environments
Best Practices: Lead and promote best practices in data engineering software development processes
Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of data pipelines, schemas, and processes
Performance Optimization: Monitor and optimize pipeline performance to ensure efficient data processing
Innovation: Stay current with emerging technologies and propose innovative solutions to improve our data infrastructure

Our data infrastructure leverages a modern technology stack, and you will work with a variety of tools including:


SQL and Python for data manipulation and pipeline development
Docker for containerization
GitLab for version control and CI/CD
Apache Airflow for workflow orchestration
Snowflake for cloud data warehousing
AWS S3 for cloud storage solutions
PostgreSQL for relational database management
Looker for business intelligence and visualization
Cloud-based platforms, preferably AWS


Required Qualifications & Experience


Experience: Minimum 2+ years of experience in an Information Engineering role
SQL Expertise: 2+ years of hands-on experience with SQL for data querying, manipulation, and database management
Pipeline Development: 2+ years of experience designing, building, and maintaining ETL/ELT data pipelines
Cloud Technologies: 2+ years of experience with cloud-based technologies, preferably AWS and S3
Platform Management: 2+ years of experience managing a cloud platform
Data Architecture: 2+ years of experience working with data lakes, data warehouses, and application databases
Database Design: 2+ years of experience designing and building relational databases
Version Control: 2+ years of experience using GitLab/GitHub for source code management
Containerization: 2+ years of experience using Docker
Big Data Technologies: Experience working with large datasets and big data technologies, preferably cloud-based platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, or similar


Preferred Qualifications


Experience with Apache Airflow, GitLab, Snowflake, and Tableau
Master's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field
Experience in streaming, media, or digital advertising domains
Strong knowledge of data modeling best practices
Experience with real-time data processing frameworks
Familiarity with machine learning data pipelines
Experience in Agile/Scrum development methodologies


Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a connected field is required. A Master's degree is preferred but not mandatory if you have equivalent practical experience.
