About This Opportunity

This exciting opportunity is within arenaflex's Information Engineering group. Our Information Engineering team owns the technology platforms and datasets that enable systems and people to uncover new insights and tailor operations to meet business objectives. We are looking for a skilled professional to help design and build these transformative data solutions.

As a Senior Data Engineer at arenaflex, you will play a critical role in architecting and implementing data systems that serve as the backbone of our business intelligence capabilities. You will work alongside talented engineers, data scientists, and business analysts to deliver robust, scalable solutions that meet evolving business needs.

Key Responsibilities


Apply extensive knowledge of technology choices, technology platforms, design methodologies, and best practices across the Data Engineering ecosystem to build systems that address complex business challenges
Construct high-quality systems and datasets using programming best practices, data management fundamentals, data storage principles, and cutting-edge advancements in distributed systems
Implement operational excellence best practices to ensure reliability, performance, and scalability of data infrastructure
Analyze source systems, define critical data sources and transformation requirements, design logical data models, and document comprehensive design specifications
Demonstrate passion for quality and productivity by utilizing professional development techniques, standards, and guidelines throughout the development lifecycle
Communicate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders, skillfully escalate technical and business issues, and resolve conflicts diplomatically
Conduct peer reviews of code and design, actively mentor other team members, and help improve their skills, knowledge of our systems, and ability to deliver results
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and translate them into technical solutions
Optimize data pipelines for performance, cost-efficiency, and reliability
Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies to continuously improve arenaflex's data infrastructure


Essential Qualifications


3+ years of professional non-internship programming development experience
3+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience (including design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and existing systems
Proficiency in at least one programming language with the ability to quickly learn new technologies
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience)
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to debug complex technical issues
Experience with data modeling, ETL processes, and data warehousing concepts
Excellent written and verbal communication skills


Preferred Qualifications


3+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build cycles, testing, and operations
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent technical discipline
Experience with cloud computing platforms and distributed systems
Knowledge of big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, or similar frameworks
Familiarity with SQL and NoSQL databases
Experience with real-time data processing and streaming architectures
Understanding of data governance, security, and compliance requirements
Experience mentoring junior engineers and leading technical discussions
