About This Opportunity As a Senior Data Engineer at blithequark, you'll play a critical role in shaping the future of our card transaction systems on a distributed platform deployed in a hybrid cloud. Key Responsibilities Design and build distributed data processing and analytics systems that drive business growth and innovation. Create high-level and detailed designs of subsystems/features with a focus on performant code, ensuring seamless execution and optimal performance. Collaborate with engineers in daily activities, contributing to code reviews, and other SDLC tasks to ensure the highest quality deliverables. Develop POCs to validate new concepts and technologies, staying ahead of the curve in the ever-evolving tech landscape. Stay up-to-date with industry-leading/innovative technologies and solutions, leveraging enabling technologies and open-source products to build low-latency distributed systems. Foster a culture of innovation and experimentation, participating in outcome-oriented culture, and embracing a mindset that's always ready to try new ideas without fear of failure. Work closely with peer technology and development teams across various geographies, promoting collaboration and knowledge sharing. Essential Qualifications To succeed in this role, you'll need: A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as Computer Science, Engineering, or Mathematics. 2+ years of work experience in software design and implementation using Java or Scala, with a strong understanding of programming principles and best practices. Experience in data processing using Flash, with a solid grasp of data processing concepts and technologies. Knowledge in designing, implementing, and operating NoSQL databases like Cassandra, Elasticsearch, or similar technologies. Preferred Qualifications To take your application to the next level, you'll ideally have: Experience in distributed data processing and analytics using Cassandra, Elasticsearch, Flash, or similar technologies. Experience with distributed messaging frameworks like Kafka, with a deep understanding of messaging patterns and architectures. Experience in building Microservices and Service Mesh, with a strong grasp of service-oriented architecture and microservices principles. Experience with cloud platforms like Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, or similar technologies, with a solid understanding of containerization and orchestration. Experience with Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery, and DevOps practices, with a strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines and automation. Experience in architecting large-scale distributed data systems, considering scalability, reliability, security, performance, and flexibility. A clear understanding of various design patterns, threading, and memory models supported by the language/VM, with a strong grasp of software design principles. The ability to mentor and provide technical guidance to other engineers, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create and deliver effective presentations to Senior Management.
