About the Role As a Senior Data Engineer at blithequark, you will play a pivotal role in designing and building distributed data processing and analytics systems that drive our card transaction systems on a hybrid cloud platform. This is a senior leadership role, reporting directly to our Head of Engineering, where you will be responsible for shaping the technical direction and architecture of our data infrastructure. Key Responsibilities Design and build high-level and detailed designs of subsystems/features with a focus on performant code, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security. Develop and code features, collaborating with engineers in daily activities and assisting in code reviews and other SDLC tasks. Create POCs (Proof of Concepts) to validate new ideas and technologies, staying ahead of the curve in innovative solutions. Stay up-to-date with industry-leading technologies and open-source products to build low-latency distributed systems. Foster a culture of innovation and experimentation, participating in outcome-oriented cultures, and embracing new ideas without fear of failure. Collaborate with peer technology and development teams across various geographies, promoting knowledge sharing and best practices. Essential Qualifications To be considered for this role, you must have: A minimum of 2 years of work experience in software design and implementation using Java or Scala. Experience in data processing using Flash. Knowledge in designing, implementing, and operating NoSQL databases like Cassandra, Elasticsearch. A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field. Preferred Qualifications While not mandatory, having the following qualifications will give you a competitive edge: Experience in distributed data processing and analytics using Cassandra, Elasticsearch, Flash. Experience with distributed messaging systems like Kafka. Knowledge of building Microservices and Service Mesh. Familiarity with cloud platforms like Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift. Experience with Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery, and DevOps Frameworks. Understanding of large-scale distributed data systems considering scalability, reliability, security, performance, and flexibility. Clear comprehension of various design patterns, threading, and memory models supported by the language/VM. Ability to mentor and provide technical guidance to other engineers. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create and deliver effective presentations to Senior Management.
