We are currently seeking a talented and passionate Senior Data Engineer to join our Client Experience Analytics team and help us continue our journey toward data excellence.

Position Overview

We are looking for an experienced Senior Data Engineer to lead the methodology and execution of incorporating new datasets that power investigation and information science drives for arenaflex's Client Experience organization. This is a critical role that sits at the intersection of data engineering, business intelligence, and customer analytics. You will be responsible for consolidating, organizing, and automating data sets from diverse sources including contact centers, e-commerce platforms, conditional systems, supply chain operations, and functional areas. Your work will directly impact our ability to understand and serve our customers better.

In this role, you will be responsible for stitching and migrating various customer-related data sources into our Google BigQuery environment, maintaining our data warehouse, designing and performing quality assurance, and providing ad-hoc reporting. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to build robust data pipelines, create intuitive dashboards and reports, and develop predictive models that drive strategic decisions across the organization.

Key Responsibilities


Data Pipeline Development (50%): Design and develop effective, user-friendly applications, reports, and dashboards using Business Intelligence tools such as MicroStrategy and SAS. Build scalable data pipelines that integrate customer data from multiple sources including contact centers, e-commerce platforms, retail operations, and supply chain systems into our centralized data warehouse.
Business Collaboration (25%): Collaborate with business leaders and stakeholders to identify their analytical needs and gather comprehensive requirements. Provide innovative solutions by building custom tools, reports, and predictive models. Automate reporting processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort across the analytics team.
Best Practices and Innovation (25%): Research and report on best practices and standards for using our Business Intelligence tools. Provide valuable insights on industry trends and emerging technologies in data engineering, analytics, and customer intelligence. Act as a subject matter expert for data engineering best practices within the organization.
Design and implement data integration processes that connect customer touchpoints across multiple channels to create a unified customer view
Maintain and optimize existing data pipelines ensuring high data quality, reliability, and performance
Develop and document data models, ETL processes, and data transformation logic
Create and maintain comprehensive data documentation and metadata repositories
Mentor junior team members and contribute to the continuous improvement of our data engineering practices
Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices


Qualifications

Essential Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field
Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in data engineering, business intelligence, or analytics roles
Strong proficiency in SQL with hands-on experience in writing complex queries, stored procedures, and optimizing query performance
Experience with cloud-based data warehousing solutions, preferably Google BigQuery
Demonstrated ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications
Experience with ETL processes and data integration from multiple disparate sources
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot data issues and optimize data workflows
Excellent communication skills with the ability to present technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
Strong attention to detail and commitment to data quality


Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in a related field
Expert-level proficiency in SQL, particularly with Google BigQuery
Strong knowledge of Python for data processing and automation
Experience with Apache Airflow or similar workflow orchestration tools
Related experience with data stitching processes—joining data sets from various sources and devices to gain deep insights into customer behavior and journey, such as connecting data from contact centers to customer orders
Proven experience in moving data on a regular cadence from one platform to another
Experience in exploring and analyzing organization data to support statistical analysis by the business team
Previous experience in the retail industry or e-commerce sector
Familiarity with customer data platforms (CDP) and customer journey mapping
Experience with Agile methodologies and cross-functional team collaboration


Technical Skills Required


Database & Query Languages: Expert-level SQL skills, experience with NoSQL databases, understanding of data modeling principles (star schema, snowflake schema, dimensional modeling)
Programming Languages: Proficiency in Python, R, or similar languages for data manipulation and analysis
Cloud Platforms: Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform, particularly BigQuery, Dataflow, and Pub/Sub
ETL & Data Integration: Experience with ETL tools such as Apache Airflow, Talend, Informatica, or similar platforms
Business Intelligence Tools: Proficiency in MicroStrategy, SAS, Tableau, Power BI, or similar BI platforms
Version Control: Experience with Git and collaborative development practices

This position typically requires occasional overnight travel (less than 10% of the time) for team meetings, training sessions, and strategic planning sessions. The physical demands of this role are minimal. Most time is spent sitting in a comfortable position with frequent opportunities to move about. Occasionally, there may be a need to move or lift light items, but this is not a regular requirement of the position.
