About the Role
We're seeking an experienced and passionate Senior Data Engineer to join our Advertising Data Engineering team in Los Gatos, California. This is a unique opportunity to be at the forefront of building the data ecosystem that powers arenaflex's advertising business. The Advertising Data Engineering team sits at the heart of understanding and driving decisions about how our advertising initiatives impact our business. We build rich, interconnected, and easily accessible data about ad inventories, forecasting, targeting, and beyond. The core data about advertisements flows across various business areas and functions—from powering insightful analysis to feature development for statistical models. The scope of this domain is rapidly growing, presenting numerous opportunities to shape arenaflex's journey into the advertising space.
Key Responsibilities
Design and Build Core Data Models: Architect, strengthen, and expand the core data models that our Advertising capabilities use to answer critical business questions. You'll collaborate with a team of skilled data engineers to determine how all data elements from various sources should integrate, then execute those designs with precision.
Own Critical Data Assets: Take full ownership of essential components of arenaflex's Advertising data model. Partner with stakeholders to understand priorities, model tables using programming and data warehouse best practices, and develop data pipelines to ensure timely delivery of high-quality data.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Analysis Engineers, Data Scientists, and Software Engineers to create intuitive datasets that serve analysis and reporting needs.
Data Governance: Establish and promote best practices for managing datasets containing sensitive information, ensuring compliance and security without compromising usability.
Build Strategic Relationships: Cultivate strong, collaborative partnerships with data scientists, analytics experts, and ML professionals to drive holistic solutions.
Pipeline Development: Design and implement robust data pipelines that scale effectively, focusing on performance, reliability, and business impact.

Essential Qualifications
Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related technical field.
Production Data Pipeline Experience: Hands-on experience building production data pipelines, preferably using distributed processing frameworks such as Spark or Hive/Hadoop.
Data Modeling Expertise: Deep proficiency in data modeling and establishing data architecture across multiple systems.
Programming Skills: Strong proficiency in writing complex SQL and Python code.
Big Data Technologies: Experience with Hadoop, Spark, Pig, Hive, and similar big data technologies.
Data Pipeline Performance: Ability to build performant data pipelines and optimize existing workflows for new features.
API Integration: Experience with acquiring and modeling data from application APIs.
Collaborative Development: Familiarity with team-based software development tools and best practices.
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in a relevant technical discipline.
Experience in the advertising technology ecosystem.
Knowledge of data privacy regulations including GDPR and CCPA.
Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud Platform, or Azure.
Familiarity with both streaming and batch data processing architectures.
Understanding of machine learning workflows and how data pipelines support ML initiatives.
