Job Overview

As a Senior Data Analytics Director, you will play a pivotal role in developing and implementing business processes and risk management strategies using commercial or consumer segment data. You will analyze structured and unstructured data, interpreting insights using statistical, financial, machine learning, or business intelligence techniques. Collaboration with technology and other stakeholders will be crucial in integrating and executing risk management policies and business strategies. Your expertise will help identify and evaluate new data sources that can drive sustained productivity for American Express products and services.

Key Responsibilities


Develop and implement business processes and risk management strategies using data analytics and insights.
Analyze complex data sets, including structured and unstructured data, to inform business decisions.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including technology, business, and analytics stakeholders.
Interpret and communicate complex analyses to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Drive business process improvement initiatives and implement change management strategies.
Utilize industry and internal best practices, incorporating regulatory feedback to enhance risk management techniques and processes.
Identify and evaluate new data sources to drive business growth and productivity.
Develop and maintain expertise in data analytics tools and technologies, including MS Excel, Data bricks, Python, R, SAS, SQL, Scene, Terawatt, Client Acknowledgment Testing (UAT), and Unix.


Essential Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you must possess:


A Graduate degree in Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, Econometrics, Operations Research, Engineering, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field.
At least 1 year of experience in risk management, interpreting complex analyses, working with technical and non-technical teams, cost-benefit analyses, and business process improvement.
Project management experience, driving business change, and reengineering processes.
Proficiency in MS Excel for financial and data reporting and modeling.
Experience with data analytics tools and technologies, including Data bricks, Python, R, SAS, SQL, Scene, Terawatt, Client Acknowledgment Testing (UAT), and Unix.


Preferred Qualifications

While not mandatory, the following qualifications are highly desirable:


Advanced degree in a relevant field (e.g., Ph.D. in Finance, Statistics, or Computer Science).
Additional experience in risk management, data analytics, or a related field.
Certifications or training in data analytics, machine learning, or a related area.
