Job Overview: Custom Circuits Design Engineer

We have an exciting opportunity for a talented Custom Circuits Design Engineer to join our exceptional silicon configuration team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing advanced custom digital megacells—including SRAM memories, on-chip sensors, and machine learning data path accelerators—used in high-performance, low-power system-on-chip (SOC) solutions.

This is a chance to work on some of the most sophisticated semiconductor components in the industry, contributing to products that will be used by millions of customers worldwide. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams across the organization, playing a critical role in bringing functional products to market quickly and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

As a Custom Circuits Design Engineer at arenaflex, you will have the opportunity to integrate and develop groundbreaking ideas while working with a team of dedicated engineers. Your daily activities will include:

Developing custom circuits to improve chip power efficiency and overall performance, ensuring our products meet the demanding requirements of modern applications
Collaborating with the power team, physical design (PD) engineers, and architects to define specifications and requirements for new circuit implementations
Performing comprehensive design work including analysis, modeling/simulation, circuit-level specifications, schematic capture, and spice simulation across process, voltage, and temperature (PVT) variations
Conducting statistical design analysis and functional verification to ensure robustness and reliability of all circuit implementations
Working closely with the layout team to complete designs and oversee layout quality, ensuring optimal physical implementation of circuit topologies
Leading and driving circuit methodologies to achieve the highest design quality metrics and performance targets
Participating in silicon bring-up, debugging, and characterization activities to validate circuit functionality and performance
Analyzing manufacturing and test data to identify trends, root causes of failures, and opportunities for design improvements
Utilizing scripting languages (Python/Perl) and automation tools to streamline design workflows and efficiently process automated test equipment (ATE) data

Required Qualifications

We are seeking candidates who possess the following essential qualifications:

Educational Background: Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related technical field
Experience: Minimum of 3 years of relevant industry experience in semiconductor design
Technical Expertise: Strong experience in design with advanced technology nodes, particularly in low-voltage and low-power custom circuit design
Domain Knowledge: Deep understanding of deep submicron device physics, leakage mechanisms, and technology interactions with device behavior
Analog Circuit Proficiency: Strong understanding of device matching, device noise sources (1/f, thermal), and external noise sources (supply, jitter), and their impact on high-precision circuits
Tool Proficiency: Familiarity with industry-standard circuit and design tools for simulation, verification, and layout
Programming Skills: Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, Perl, or similar) and CAD automation tools

Preferred Qualifications

Candidates with experience in one or more of the following areas will be highly preferred:

AI/Machine Learning accelerators and data path design
SRAM memory circuits and compiler design
Non-volatile memory technologies
Weak/moderate inversion circuit design techniques
Ultra-low power amplifiers and analog blocks
DC/DC converter design
Advanced on-chip sensors for temperature, voltage, and performance monitoring
High-speed timing circuits and architectures
Time-to-digital converters (TDCs)
Experience with assertion-based verification and behavioral modeling for complex blocks

Essential Skills and Competencies

To succeed in this role, you will need to demonstrate:

Technical Problem-Solving: Ability to tackle complex engineering challenges with innovative solutions
Analytical Thinking: Strong capability to conduct experiments during silicon debug, manufacturing, and test data analysis
Collaboration: Excellent communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams including layout engineers, physical design teams, and system architects
